We went 8-4 with basically a partially healthy redshirt freshman QB. Good defensive effort.  I love the Cats! Always will!

Mich, I think you really just want him to be good, and want to be positive about it. A lot of the things he does almost beg the question of whether or not he’s healthy. That said he still went 8-4, 5-4 as a sophomore in the XII (which is really pretty mediocre tho), and put up respectable stats as a true sophomore.

Ell Roberson struggled so much as a sophomore that it took until a win over USC as a junior to solidify the starting job over Marc Dunn. Hopefully AJ can finish his career in a similar fashion.

I'm sorry, AJ has none of the swag Ell had but maybe that comes from winning. We were on a tear this year after BYU but somthing else clogged up the gears. That could be on the coaches and Avery is still a sophmore, but he wasn't the problem tonight. It was everything else. So many botched plays. If AJ sticks around, we need something to change to help him get to Ell Roberson status.

The lack of swag, fire, put-the-team-on-my-back, or whatever you want to call it is missing with AJ at this point, and it makes what benja posted below difficult to compute. We’re used to our great QBs being absolute warriors. It’s like the difference between guys like AI, Kobe etc., and a guy like Lebron.

In all seriousness we should all love Avery Johnson. Just gotta make this offense work for him. (If you have a friend with nice offensive concepts send them over).

Yeah but they got that warrior spirit directly from the top. And I'm not even saying klieman isn't that guy. It's just that Snyder was different. These days college ball is different. Sunshine is a different kind of recruit. I truly believe the right system will unlock him. I just don't like our offensive system currently and haven't for awhile.

I enjoyed it under Klein. Was a breath of fresh air. This season was a total turd philosophy and entertainment wise on offense.

I know right?

For comparison, Klein's new team is 8-4 this season, also.

Yeah. And if you look at it statistically, they practically have the exact same offensive numbers.

I just personally think Collin and Avery could have been a special fit. Who knows. I just know you can't have a guy back there looking confused and hesitant all the time.

ASU and ISU are playing for the Dr Pepper with their freshman and sophomore QB's.  ASU's was out two weeks with a cracked rib.

I’m choosing to believe this was a throw away season who’s only purpose was to get everyone experience for a run next year.

Kleiman is going to be 2-4 against Iowa State. That can't be excused anymore.
even ron prince had a winning record against iowa state
I bet Klieman has already lost more times to Iowa State than Bill did in both his tenures combined.

No one needs to double check this.

1.0 13-4, retired after back to back losses in 04 and 05
2.0 9-1, retired after loss in 18

Wow... that is NOT a good stat for Kleiman.

Avery needs to stop spinning. Just run out of the pocket laterally.

It is a pretty strange move that he seems to love dearly.

Because it's worked literally every other time he's done it this year, and even then, the pass was the issue.
