Yeah. I could be reading the chart wrong but it doesn't look like many players in the "out" column have gone on to be P5 all-conference type players. We've picked up some really good players in the portal: Brents, Stubblefield, Warner, 9AM, Josh Hayes.

Also, I think Josh Youngblood's career may have peaked as a freshman at KSU.

The "In" group in 2021 was amazing portaling.

Also as your talent level rises, ideally more of your transfers go to better programs and it doesn't kill you. Will leaving with Avery ready to take over is a great example

That's exactly how the portal is supposed to work. Guys that that risked getting buried on the depth chart portaled out, guys who thought they'd get a nice role at a competitive program portaled in. It really should be the expectation. That the "out" column would be made up mostly of guys who aren't going to excel in another P4 program. Howard could be an exception.

it does help schools like us because we're just good enough to where we can keep most of our good players. the top schools will improve too but the difference between a portal add and a blue chip guy in the program probably isn't too big on average.

What about the other two QB leaving?  I know Jake Rubley is a 4-star.

If Rubley thinks he can sling it at the P5 level, he's going to have to compete for a spot.  I would expect that he would still be better off going G5, slinging it, and grad transferring to the P5 after.

Howard didn't exactly walk into his starting job.  I'd assume Rubley would want to go somewhere that is basically going to name him the starter for next season.
