I was comparing 1 to 8 years in those cases so definitely not apples/oranges.  I'm also in no way plugged in enough to any presidency to remember what they did year 1 versus year n.

Obama's year 1 was a whole lot of government bailouts for the banks that got us into the recession, a bailout of the auto industry, "cash for clunkers" to get people into fuel-efficient vehicles, etc. Oh, and there was an offshore oil rig that leaked oil into the Gulf of Mexico and we all sat and watched BP progressively try more expensive solutions until they finally stopped the leak a couple of months after it started.

Maybe we need a K-State gets no respect thread on the politics board, but I'm more than a little bit peeved that the media only mentions that the non-binary stud that Biden made deputy assistant secretary of energy went to MIT. Not a single mention of him/her? getting his undergraduate degree at Kansas State University. We only make the news when some racist puts on blackface or something.
