That seems high, but regardless I don’t see anything negative about big pharma getting paid for something no one else was able to do. Like I don’t think socialists would even hold that up as one of capitalism’s failings.

Oh I don't either, only governments will get fleeced, not individuals. As much as I can't stand how pharmaceutical is allowed to do business in this country, I'm not anti pharma at all.

That they will take in trillions for.

You have no idea what you’re taking about and are extremely ignorant.

So either you think they will give away the COVID vaccine for free, or you don't understand these vaccines won't be sold worldwide, or you don't know how procurement of goods cost. Anyway, I'm sure this will end the same way your idiotic no one supports progressive positions argument ended, for the third time. You've literally never posted anything of substance on this board. The next time you post anything fact based that can be supported by a link or anything will be the first time. Go ahead and prove me wrong, otherwise shut your bitch ass up.

a trillion dollars is a lot of money.  trillions (plural) is at least twice as much.

The majority of the world will receive vaccines that cost a few dollar each at most.  There are like 7-8 billion people in this world.  I think Moderna is planning the highest price of any vaccine maker at approximately $74 for two doses which still wouldn’t amount to anything near one trillion.  And as I’ve said before, seek help or therapy for your anger issues.

Yeah, it was an exaggeration, with room for nuance that kim didn't allow for. How about somewhere over $500 billion, initially? If it turns out that it will need to be given as a booster, the overall revenues will exceed revenues over a trillion by 2022.

There are 8 billion people in the world and I assumed that only 5 billion of those would get vaccinated. I also assumed that this won't be a one time vaccine, as most are not. Don't talk to me about so called anger issues, if you wanted a nuanced conversation your stupid ass could have started with this instead of an ad hominem attack.

yeah if it turns out to be something we need to get repeated inoculations forever, it could get into the trillions on revenue, lifetime.  margins will probably be pretty low, so i can't imagine profits ever getting there.

last i saw, people seemed fairly optimistic that vaccines would protect for at least several years.

Hadn't seen that, I was preparing for a life of fall flu vaccines and spring COVID boosters.

I also don't know how to research this, maybe you've seen it, but would the effectiveness of these vaccines , as far as how long they are effective, depend on a greater percentage of the population who take them? Didn't polio eventually get eradicated because enough children got vaccinated that there was no one left to get it?

Kstreet continues to flow into the Biden Administration as expected and the best resident BidenVoter can come up with is that Big Pharma deserves a parade.

my guess is that we won't even try to eradicate this virus, but yeah, if we were to try, we would need to vaccinate a large percentage of the world's population (and we would need a vaccine that prevents most recipients from ever becoming infectious, as of now we don't know if the vaccines prevent people from becoming infectious or if they still develop a less severe infection and still have a period where they are capable of infecting others).

i don't have a good link for any of this, just synthesizing what i've seen people tweet.

Big phamra will not net win off of the virus except for the tax payers $$ they get.  The number of dead with co-morbities who were voracious consumers of very expensive pharmas will hurt the bottomline.

There are olds who had a decade of $2000/mo pharma regimes who are now gone.

If there's any stories about why it's a great I idea, please start posting them.    Also look for a litany of human interest stories.

Gotta sell it, and sell it hard.

yeah, agree.  this admin should be consciously restoring norms, not ratifying their destruction.

I guess I don't care too much about the norms part of it, but mostly for the reason why it has always been considered bad.

If the head of DOD is too chummy with the generals then it makes it much easier to have really bad stuff happen. And if there is a policy disagreement with the Sec of Defense, it is much easier for the President to get knee capped.  I mean not to defend Trump too much here, but Mattis chose to resign rather than follow Trump's desire to get American troops out of Syria.

Probably broke it off because they had fully groomed the ultimate prize.  The future 46th POTUS and his family.
