I long for the days before the pandemic of train derailments. 2020-2024 will forever be known as the dark ages for rail transportation in America. Man, I miss 2018 when you could see a train and know, that train will never ever derail.

Yep, it's just about the derailment.

turning to a catastrophe that is within buttigieg's purview that he seems content to not only allow to continue but actively make worse, here's a good thread on costs of transportation projects (one reason being a cabinet secretary isn't a great stepping stone job is you have limited ability to steer in a direction not aligned with the president you serve, but you get stuck with at least some of the blame for overseeing their policies).

Its fine, it's all fine . . .

Who really cares though?  Just an area littered with dumb, good for nothing crackers.
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

This is true.  That area is most definitely the aorta of Rust Belt-Cracker world.  So, WGAF.   And . . .  It was a controlled burn after-all, they controlled those massive plumes of toxic gases and contaminants right up into the air . . . and water, and surface areas etc. etc.

I think a big factor here is that we have no rural transit, and most other countries do. So we aren't using cheap land to develop anything.

I am not a HAZMAT expert.  What options for cleanup are there for something like that?  I just assume that burning is like the least bad of a bunch of bad options but what do I know?

Can't say I'm familiar with the demographics of wherever this derailment is, but I'll take your word for it. Your lips to god's ears

One thing that's really lacking on the Internet is readily available demographic information.  Very difficult to find.

Why in the holy eff would I look up the demographics of that area, I didn't say diddly crap about those people, purp wood because he's too stupid to understand irony and it's caused him to have a nearly year long temper tantrum because he thinks we give a crap if he types slurs on an anonymous message board.

He shoehorned that into a conversation about trains. I don't give a crap if the train derailed in the blackest city in America, it had dick crap to do with who the secretary of transportation is.
