New Mexico is one of the better states in this union. The only people forgetting about it are people who have never been.

(Most people)

I think picking a state out on a map is different than having knowledge of something noteable about a particular state.

ben ji i'm realizing this exercise is kind of a catch 22 because as i rack my brain trying to think of the most forgettable, whatever state was the most forgettable to me at that time gets a lot of thought and then moves up the list at least 10 or so spots so its just this revolving door

Missouri makes sense because it doesn't attract tourists and is also surrounded by states that don't attract tourists. There is no reason to drive through it.

Exactly why I daydream about Maine all the time. What's all up there? Exactly why we went there a year ago. Beautiful state.

The other thing about Missouri is that its 2 biggest cities are right on state borders. So even people in neighboring states who visit Missouri probably know nothing about it beyond those city limits.

I tried to bring it up but got shot down.

Honestly, if it weren't for the Wizard of Oz, most people wouldn't know anything about Kansas.

Oh, and probably KU bball, among sporting enthusiasts.

I was just thinking the directional states are probably among the easiest cause you can think of them in pairs.  You're not going to remember South Dakota and forget North Dakota or vice versa.  Same with NC and SC.

I forget about Kansas all the time and I live there.  If it weren't for deer or pheasant why would anyone come here?

Kansas always ranked 50th in tourism when I lived there. Probably hasn't changed much since.
