so what's the current coronabros covid testing situation?

Tuesday afternoon I started to feel a little weird, and then on the way home from the office I was like "this kind of feels like the last time I got covid" so I tested (an expired test) when I got home and definitely had covid. I let people I was in contact with at work know and have been staying home all week and isolating in my bedroom so I don't get the family sick, but people were like "I feel sick, I tested negative, I'm not testing again if I feel better", and another guy was like "I have a nasty sore throat but I'm just going to take a day or two off and not test" (second guy does not work in my office but was visiting).

Am I like a weirdo for testing and isolating? Are people still doing that? I would honestly probably be more aggressive but I have some friends who were visiting this weekend who were leaving to literally fly around the world after their visit so I would rather not get them covid before they leave.

What is everyone doing with testing?

Don’t test and really stopped years ago.  It seems at my work the bad employees  say “I think I have covid” and stay home but don’t test they are just people who hate work.

I think the virus has changed pretty dramatically over the last 3.5 years, not to mention the vaccine for it, so I’m not sure if that point applies. I’ve never tested for flu either.

At the point you’re already experiencing symptoms I say just stay home and get better.

l feel great now. do people not test because they want to just go out and about as soon as they feel better? I want to test to protect my friends who will be traveling. They are going to Jordan first and I don't know what they might be getting into if they're sick there! (@felix_rex?)

I don't think covid testing is a thing anymore at least in KC that I've noticed. Once it stopped being paid for by special funding to test I think it basically went away.

I think most people don’t test because there has been pretty much no public health campaigns suggesting it would accomplish anything meaningful under the current circumstances.

Yeah, if I test positive for influenza I’m not going spreading it around either. People are just selfish a lot.

I think most people don’t test because there has been pretty much no public health campaigns suggesting it would accomplish anything meaningful under the current circumstances.

I think I sympathize more with the rationale of "I don't test because it could be a pain in the ass if I'm positive" than this one.
