I get that big Pharma has a shitty track record like with Pfizer and Vioxx but why will people take Mercks ivermectin but not get a vaccine from Moderna or Pfizer? I guess that’s one of those mysteries I’ll never get to understand.
I think it's possible to do both.

Maybe I’m missing the “pure evil” part. Feel bad for the kids but the decision to refuse a kidney transplant seems pretty low on the scale of anti-vax idiocy that has been on full display recently.
Denying the transplant is the evil part I believe

Yeah, it’s pretty damn evil. It’s also dumb of the dude to die on that hill.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Yeah, it would be evil if we had enough donors for everyone who needs a transplant. We don't, though, so it would be evil to give this guy an organ when he refuses to take 15 minutes to prevent the third leading cause of death from killing him in the near future while other people have done all sorts of much more difficult things to give themselves a better chance at a positive health outcome.

Many transplant recipients were already required to be fully vaccinated and meet various other eligibility requirements prior to the outbreak of Covid-19. Furthermore, there is a specific reason the covid vaccine is even more sound.

Per USA today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/10/20/fact-check-hospital-requiring-covid-19-shot-transplant-patients/6036157001/

Patients undergoing an organ transplant must meet certain requirements to protect them before and after surgery, said Tracer and Dr. Deepali Kumar, president-elect of the American Society of Transplantation.

People on waitlists typically already are vaccinated to protect against infectious hepatitis A and B, pneumonia, shingles and the flu, Kumar told USA TODAY.

"Patients may also be required to avoid alcohol, stop smoking, or prove they will be able to continue taking their anti-rejection medications long after their transplant surgery," Tracer said. "These requirements increase the likelihood that a transplant will be successful and the patient will avoid rejection."

Preventing organ rejection generally requires taking immunosuppressive drugs, which work to quiet down the transplant recipient's immune system so it won't reject the new organ. But this silencing also leaves patients significantly more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection and death than the general population.

A December 2020 study from France of more than 1,000 people hospitalized with COVID-19 found 18% of kidney transplant patients died, compared with 11% of nontransplant COVID-19 patients. In other studies looking not only at kidney transplant patients but other organs as well, this rate was between 20% and 30%.

Experts say it's important to be vaccinated before a transplant because the vaccine is less effective if administered after a transplant due to anti-rejection medications.

A lower percentage of post-transplant patients develop a "demonstrable antibody response" from the vaccine compared with the general population, Dr. David Klassen, chief medical officer of the United Network for Organ Sharing, a nonprofit that manages the nation's transplant waiting list, told USA TODAY.

No idea why you would want to take dewormer if you already had a 0% chance of dying, though.

I'd take sudafed or nyquil if I caught COVID and had a runny nose, sore throat, etc., but it wouldn't cross my mind to take a dewormer to treat my runny nose. Taking an experimental drug like that seems like a last ditch effort to save yourself if you are worried you might die.

Not really, if you think about it. Not a single medical researcher has recommended ivermectin at any point, so it's not like any reasonable person is going to be taking it.

Anybody have a medical professional recommend anything specifically? I keep hearing to just take OTC cold/flu drugs. However, there are like 30 billion to choose from.

I’d just base it on whatever symptoms you’re experiencing.

Day 3/4 I felt like the height of allergy season (in a geographic area I have never had allergy problems in) so I took some benedryl and it worked great.

Agree with that or last ditch effort when the other stuff isn't doing the trick. I've taken DMSO for pain in my knee when ibuprofen didn't work. Don't think it's approved for that but it worked (placebo maybe?) but that stuff is amazing. have not taken the mectin or have any but I have friends who are vaxxed to the maxx that have it "just in case"

How do they have it "just in case" without getting a prescription? Are they buying the stuff from tractor supply?
