I got really sick during finals week once and lost all taste. I bombed my calc2 final and then drove to California the next day and the most memorable part is how bland food was, you don't even want to eat because it's kind of gross.

pretty much same for me. smell/taste has actually started to come back but only barely.

it's just an estimate (which could be wrong) saying that fewer people than was previously thought were infected earlier this year in those states, and accordingly, both a higher % of people that were infected died and fewer people now have some degree of immunization from vaccines and/or being previously infected.
