Had a trip to NYC last week. Got into town on Tuesday and the statewide mask mandate was lifted starting on Wednesday. Still, I'd estimate about 70 percent of people were still wearing masks everywhere (including outside). I was in four airports and they were all different levels of busy. Charlotte was packed - didn't seem any different than pre-covid. Laguardia was reasonably busy, but less than usual. KCI wasn't terribly busy. And JFK was an absolute ghost town. It was shocking how empty it was (probably because of all the international flights, but still). Despite all that, every flight I was on was either at capacity or very close to capacity.
And, of course, me and a colleague from another part of the country ate indoors at a restaurant one god damn time during the entire trip (and wore masks everywhere else) and both of us picked up our first cold in 1.5 years.
