Tbh, I don’t have a problem with a state gov leaving it up to the local counties and municipalities to legislate (right word?) their own areas without force from the state.

The Dakotas and their approach obviously had a “rip off the bandaid” effect, but those states aren’t seeing the post Thanksgiving spike that most everywhere else is. Granted, it may be a climate/regional thing, because Montana, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin all have similar trends in new cases (rolling 7-day average) and current active cases timelines.

All of these states have had different approaches, but have showed a steady decline in new cases since the pre-thanksgiving wave. It will be interesting to watch going forward. These states are all currently in or near the top 10 in cases/deaths per 1 million population currently. Trends though, suggest that may not last.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The report on how states/counties handled all this and the results of their mitigations (cases, hospital, death, economy) will be very interesting and important to plan future responses.

I think sys was right that the government mandates (in the US, at least) don't make much of an impact. People stop going to gyms and restaurants and stuff in impactful numbers when cases start to rise whether the government tells then to or not, and the overall case rates are largely driven by the weather and how much socializing can take place outside.

I don't think people are making the right decisions based on current situation at all actually. Not in the Midwest.

yes but we supposedly are in California and cases are just going through the roof. I think "the right decisions" just don't make nearly the impact that weather or a true lockdown does does when you're at the level most of the country is at.

Which leads to my original point.  It will be interesting to look back and see what if any impact different rules made regarding our key metrics.

That's interesting in comparison to the bodies that piled up like cord wood in NY while Cuomo yielded to his big hospital donors . . . and now Cuomo is writing books and is heralded as a hero by BidenVoter Nation (in between sexually harassing staffers and surrounding himself with white guy yes men).

328MM to go!  I know they say those who contracted COVID should still get the vaccine but shouldn't they go back of the line?

Chippin' in America!

I was talking to a doctor friend of mine this morning and she said, maybe wait 90 days after your positive COVID test before getting your chip. That way you can use some natural "wild-type" / bareback / Scott Atlas-style immunity and then also stretch out the length of protection you get from the chip (in case the chip doesn't make you immune forever).

Was Andrew "we need to wait on Biden, the vaccine is dangerous" Cuomo in attendance?

Are newborns considered high risk? I thought there was maybe some speculation but never heard anything firm on that.

I don't believe so. anecdotally my new nephew's mom and dad (my bro) were both symptomatic about a week after he was born. obviously never tested him but he didn't show symptoms or anything. assume some breast milk immunity is being transferred there or some science thing?
babies/newborns aren't high risk.

Would you want your newborn to get covid?  My point is people refusing to get vaxxed increase the risk of it happening.
Yeah I think everyone should get the vax.  Calling newborns "high risk" is wrong though.  They're not, AFAIK (which happens to be more than the averae person on this subject).  All things being equal, I'd prefer my newborn (if I had one) not get sick.

Of course Phil is not getting that feeling, because Phil thrives on Fear Porn and the constant barrage of worse case scenarios.

Don't worry Phil, the pandemic will be over entirely by mid November.

Phil, remember all the crap your guy Andrew "the harasser" Cuomo was talking  on the vaccine and rambled on with a consistent message for a number of days that the "Trump Vaccine" couldn't be be trusted, that it was a political stunt, was dangerous and that we needed to wait until Biden was sworn in?

How do you feel about your guy standing next to the nurse receiving the vaccine?

My wife is a healthcare worker and is breast feeding our 5 month old. The doc recommended to wait on the vaccine, unfortunately.
