With proper testing, tracing, and isolation why can't it just "go away" like we've basically seen SARS/MERS ?

the thing about this is we're still doing "lockdowns". Which is definitely doing something about it but really just enough to stop ICU's from getting overrun while pissing everyone off. And the economy's going to be just as shitty for years because we aren't doing anything other than fairly loose lockdowns and waiting for a vaccine.
