Tens of Billions of dollars worth of strategic supplies going to hospitals all around the country equals "unprepared" says the Useful idiot.  (keeping in mind certain Useful Idiot favorite governors who were told to buy more equipment several years ago and they refused to do so)

Look at all the regulatory hurdles previous administrations cleared up to make this response better . . . wait.

Ebola, isolated region of Africa.   Swine Flu, known virus that jumped to humans in the United States vs Novel Virus in foreign country  who by even Fauci's admission lied and misled everybody with the help of a communist microbiologist.   The same country allowed 5 million people to leave the hotspot region untested, the region has multiple international airports with industrial ties around the world.   Not some African backwater.

Again, previous administrations wrote some fantastic reports and no doubt held some really outstanding meetings to discuss all of this stuff.

LOL, a known virus that jumped to humans in the United States.  12k dead, 65m-70m infected in the United States, 200k to 300k hospitalizations.

And not one business closed or vacation cancelled.

Hospitals were still overwhelmed and the media and libs didn't give a eff.   Thought it was a big joke.

Look at the LibBots beloved EU, who supposedly does everything better than us.   We can thank a massive amount of cases in this country on the European variation of Covid-19.   We all know what the reaction would have been had Trump closed down travel from Europe earlier.

Useful Idiots, can't even understand the difference between the viruses and what is a known and novel virus.

I guess we should also thank him for not dismantling the Strategic National Stockpile. Like he could have tried to in order to save some $'s

This coming from the "just the flu" guy.   SMDH, sad.

Not having a pandemic task force seems unprepared.  Spending months, including into March, saying this won't affect America is unprepared.  Not mass-producing effective tests seems unprepared.  Allowing the supply chain to price gouge states in need of supplies seems unprepared.

Distributing supplies isn't preparation, it's being done after the pandemic got too big to be ignored as a Democrat fear tactic.  Telling states to cover their own ass isn't preparation, it's passing the buck to not have to deal with it.  It's also impractical for every state to prepare for a worst case scenario but who cares if we waste tax payer money?  Not the GOP if Trump is in charge!

Local and state governments have always been the front line guards in all responses for anything.   This has been explained repeatedly and the way it's been for decades.   The problem is, the Feds have taken on such a huge role in everything that now the states do a half ass job across the board, particularly places like New York.

There was a task force created earlier, it was just re-chaired by Pence.

As of right now, the models WAY over estimated everything from deaths to resources needed.

Previous administrations did virtually nothing fix a myriad of problems, but as I keep saying, they wrote a lot of reports and talked about things a lot.

The Worldometers data aggregation everybody seems to be using is much more up to date, but possibly not super-reliable given the number of sources they are pulling from, different counting methodologies, etc. I think everyone, including the Worldometer analysts, would concede there are likely issues with the data.

By contrast, the CDC keeps a running tally based only on only confirmed death certificates. It's not nearly as up to date, and even going off of verified death certificates is far from certain, but at least the CDC makes its data publicly available. You can download the CSV here: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/COVID19/index.htm

I was curious about deaths by age in the US. Based upon the CDC's most recent data (only about 5k deaths, so way behind), deaths caused by COVID by age are:
- Under 55: 9.5%
- 55-64: 12.5%
- 65+: 78%

That doesn't seem surprising.

But then I then compared the COVID deaths for each of those age groupings against all deaths of any cause for each of those age groupings (this is all in the same CSV). Here's how that breaks down....
- Under 55: 474 / 32,197 = 0.81%
- 55-64: 624 / 64,579 = 0.97%
- 65+: 3,886 / 387,996 = 1.00%

So no matter what your age (at least based upon these 3 age groupings), about 1% of all deaths is being caused by COVID, even though COIVD has a massively higher mortality rate as you get older.

Would be interested to hear Sys's take and that of other number crunchers. Should this be expected? Just an anomaly? I found it surprising.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Not any more weirder than the same groups of people who on one hand lean towards martial law and repeatedly tell us that this virus is way more dangerous and way more contagious than the flu.   Then blaming the government for everything while pointing out that response to what was basically just the flu . . . was good (when it really wasn't, at all).

Your constant meltdowns and takes are also weird, and often times very funny.

this is long, and i'll admit, a bit tedious.  still kinda interesting to hear some of the korean preparation.  also kinda interesting to see some of how we view things turned around (like, the dude talks about test and tracing like any idiot country can do it while we're like omg, how would anyone know where anyone was a day before they went to the hospital.  meanwhile we're like, we're currently developing 94 different vaccines, from which we'll choose the best one and make it instantly available thanks to our pet billionaire building 6 different vaccine factories and he's like, yeah maybe a vaccine could be made in 10 years or so, i dunno).

second half was more interesting than the first, imo.

3 years to correct decades of problems.   Many of them created by the same people that Useful Idiots like you think are awesome.

Even Fauci admitted that all the red tape and bureaucracy people like him piled on got people killed during the HIV crisis.

But you guys think Fauci is awesome.

i saw that point raised elsewhere recently - that the mortality risk from covid 19 by age mirrored risk from other factors.  i honestly have no idea if it is something people in the field would expect or not.

Closing travel from China is literally all Trump could do guys to handle this.  Nevermind every other country in the world kicking our ass in handling it and we could see it coming at us from weeks away.   We closed travel from China (still let thousands in but whatever) what else do you want?  If you do want something else done, we couldn't/didn't have it because Obama.

Many countries haven't even touched the level of testing that we've done and will do, and in many countries, most if not all deaths with underlying conditions are stating the cause of death as the underlying condition.

The second waves are starting again in China (who is lying) and elsewhere.

Fauci is good at one thing at this point in my mind, standing up to Trump's gaslighting false comments to the public.  His preparedness for this situation after decades in the same role seems pretty horrible.

In South Korea, cases of those who tested negative after having Covid-19, that are now testing positive again are on the rise.

Yet all reports are that Trump has listened to everything the guy has said, any thought of firing the guy has lead to a full blown Useful Idiot (people like you) meltdown.

Fauci and Brix are technocrats who have spent hundreds of billions of dollars of the taxpayer money over the years running highly difficult to decipher and even cryptic international health programs via various sub agencies.

another semi-interesting clip (7 minutes), this one about taiwan.  to date, taiwan has probably done better than any other country at preventing and controlling spread.

not in the clip, but a couple of other random things i saw about taiwan - the govt bought extra mask making machinery and gave them to mask making companies to boost mask production.  and their vice president is an epidemiologist.
