The right wants so hard to be outraged about things like this. This probably impacts like 50 bad person skaters at the end of the day

Easter was probably the best time to reopen the US for business according to these numbers.

if it only impacts 50 people, then there was no reason to do it.  plenty of room for 50 people there.

in general most of the restrictions on outdoor activities seem dumb.  non-contact outdoor transmission is probably very low.

Why is Colorado significantly lower then Kansas when they have 5-6 times of the confirmed cases(testing capacity aside)?

This occurred to me too. I’ll bet they were more than happy to give those guys something to do.

I'm guessing the thought is that if you let 50 skaters congregate then eventually the venice bodybuilders will think they should be able to congregate and then basketball hoops will be demanded to be put back and then people just ignore everything and the beach is full. regardless, it's a dumb thing to get upset over

I love this train of thought. It made me realize how easily you can jump between all of these.

At first they came for the skate parks, and I said nothing.

Have you all discussed Sweden here yet? They are trying to beat coronavirus without a lockdown and it isn't working. Their death rate is way larger than their Scandinavian counterparts. Their death rate is even higher than ours. 1 out of 740 Swedes have died (13,822 deaths, population of 10,230,000) while 1 out of every 8400 Americans have died (38,928 deaths, population of 280,200,000). Sweden and New York State has nearly twice as many citizens as Sweden, yet Sweden has twice as almost the same number of deaths.

This is magnified if you consider the much higher rate of obesity, underlying health issues, and poverty that Americans have.

Last I read they were doing ok. Can’t remember when their outbreak started, but I thought I saw it’s been there longer than many parts of the US so that comparison wasn’t totally fair.

They are social distancing, though. Just not government mandated.

If nothing else, it'll be nice to see some results of the different case studies/strategies that have been employed across the world when this is all said and done.

Also, MIR, where di you get the 280,200,000 number from?  I think you're about 40 million short there.
