Does anyone understand how the relief checks work regarding divorce? My dad is a 62-yo heart attack survivor who is going thru a brutal divorce and barely making ends meet between his Kpers (retired teacher) and a crappy job that he is quitting because I offered to gift him the $400/wk that he had been taking home from said job for the next month or so.

Thing is his wife makes > $100k so it looks like he's well off. I'm ****ing worried about him man.

I have read that if you are not eligible based on 2018 or 2019 filings, you may be eligible based off your 2020 filing when you file next year.  I know that is a long way off, but it is something that might help out your dad.

I have no clue. I’m not smart with this kind of stuff.

Edit: luckily he does have a decent attorney that I think could help him out here. That’s what I suggested
