Citadel, a Chicago-based hedge fund, has $15.9 million in shares of Regeneron Pharmaceutical Inc., according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Citadel CEO Ken Griffin has donated $10.75 million to a political committee that supports DeSantis — $5.75 million in 2018 and $5 million last April.

(For those who read the investing thread, this is the same guy who tried to bail out the firm that massively shorted GameStop!)
That’s like supervillain level stuff.

Citadel isn't the story. DeDantis is. Obviously, anyone is free to give him the benefit of the doubt if they want to.

Hawaii:  1.5 years of masks, high compliance, 65% vax rate

Just set a new Covid hospitalization record

And your point is?
High vax and mask usage.   Still crap tons of
Covid.  All that CoronaBro melting down about those things and Hawaii operating in a CoronaBro approved manner and yet is still overrun with the virus.

High vax places in other parts of the world. Covid Level 4: High Risk.

Probably depends on whether or not you want to give DeSantis the benefit of the doubt.

I was talking more like the implication that Desantis would be willing to encourage people to get sick in order to promote this drug in exchange for $5-$10 million.

all that money stuff aside the super villain stuff is that desantis is parading around a treatment for covid that costs a shitload and is only used after covid is confirmed instead of a vaccine that is free and exponentially more effective both prophylactically and to avoid serious illness/hospitalization. go through his twitter feed and check out all of the antibody posts without any promoting of the vaccine (other than his rejection of vaccine mandates). he wants to run for president and knows he must get 100% of the MAGA antivax vote to have any chance and this is just rough ridin' awful crap he's doing to assure that.

Dax is not only bad at providing context he straight up makes up numbers. Hawaii is 54% vaccinated and their crap ton of cases are 20% that of Florida. Guess they have a super crap ass ton in the Dax ton scale.

As usual you fail to provide any context...  I have pretty much been following their covid situation from the beginning.  We have had to reschedule our trip to Maui three times starting April 2020.  Hawaii had been completely shut down to any incoming tourists for majority of the pandemic.  Now they are allowing unvaccinated tourists with a negative test 72 hours in advance, or you can go without a test and unvaccinated and quarantine, which many locals are not doing.

There are currently around 300 covid patients in hospitals for the entire state.
“So 274 of those individuals are unvaccinated and the other 26 have waning immunity, they’re very old, they’re our kupuna in general,” explained Lt. Governor Josh Green.
https://www.khon2.com/top-stories/curfew-could-be-implemented-as-hospitalizations-cases-continue-to-soar/

Maui has 31 total in the hospital and they are all unvaccinated.
https://mauinow.com/2021/08/17/all-31-maui-covid-19-hospitalizations-are-unvaccinated-10-are-40-years-and-younger/

Just because they have a high rate of 65%, that still means 35% of them aren't.  There are still a lot of unvaccinated people in Hawaii and they are the ones in the hospitals setting said records, just like everywhere else.

They are having a normal one in JoCo. Anyone else remember that line from "What's the Matter with Kansas" by Thomas Franks where he talks about looking into the face of the local homecoming king and realizing that he was talking to a psychopath? I have a family member that I used to be very close to prior to the pandemic that believes all of this crap. It has ended our ability to have a relationship.

Agree with all that, for sure. MAGA politicking has the nasty side effect of increasing the number of covid cases.

Making money from Regeneron, on the other hand, requires that there are covid cases. There is a direct incentive there to actively increase the number of covid cases.

DeSantis is currently out on tour VERY actively promoting Regeneron. Maybe that's simply a matter of MAGA politicking. ???

This should hopefully alleviate that surplus of nursing home workers the industry has been struggling with.

I agree Dax Biden needs to mandate the chip (already coming for fed workers). Withholding fed funds from states who ignore science.

I think an elderly person is better off in an under-staffed nursing home than in an unvaccinated one.
