So we should have just let it run its course Dub?

No, I think there are a lot of things we could have done that are far less severe than shuttering businesses,  laying off a ton of (predominantly low income) people, and tanking the markets.

Early travel bans probably were somewhat effective is slowing the spread. The folks in the high risk demographic should have been encouraged to isolate. Everyone else should have been encouraged to go about their lives while practicing clean habits that are always a good idea in any event, and if you get sick stay home.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

It's 100% a moral issue based on how much you value human life vs the economy

I'm not saying anything in that guy's tweets is inaccurate but his credentials don't indicate him being an expert either. He's an assistant history professor at Dixie State University. And in case you were wondering, Dixie State is in Utah. WTF?

It's a university now? It used to be a community college and in the early to mid 90's they had the best community college football team outside the state of Kansas.
They are going D-I too.

Going back to Italy, I imagine we have a few advantages:

-Lower population density, less public transit use
-less international tourism in much of the country
-Time to prepare hospitals for a spike in patients (it won't be enough, but it'll help)

I'd bet our higher rate of obesity and associated ailments that might offset our slightly younger population though

I don't know if we have any advantages over China - they knew less about the virus since it started there but obviously they can more effectively lock things down and were better prepared for outbreaks in general because of past outbreaks.

It's a moral quandry because of the economy.

LOL every expert I read said the travel bans are not at all effective at the stage in the game they were done.  The cat was out of the bag.  Maybe in January (around "this is a hoax" time) could have worked.

I think travel bans are effective because they keep people off of planes. Domestic flights should also be cancelled.

Travel bans helped, I'm guessing the extra time it bought  probably ended up being squandered with lack of testing kits. I'm sure there are more benefits like better understanding of the virus too that the travel bans gave the opportunity for.

We didn't even ban travel from UK, where they decided to herd immunize everybody, till they realized that was a dumb idea, till MONDAY!

Trump thinking he saved the US with his late China travel ban that he still pimps on the daily is quite sad.

Business takes me to Houston once a week, I just started driving from Wichita ever since this started.  Airplanes are the reason this thing is all over the globe.
