I’m all for accountability, but this impeachment trial to nowhere while the Biden agenda stalls out before it even gets started is peak Democrats.

No surprise but I agree with you. I also think there should be a commission investigate the election and the aftermath, those findings can be used in impeachment proceedings.

her district is full of people who hate exercise

I think they should drag it out for a couple years like the Benghazi investigation. And when pubs scream about the length, scream at them for being traitors.
I agree, committee investigations that allow people to grandstand on their own time won’t really accomplish much either but that’s fine. They absolutely should table the impeachment, pass the stimulus, and get their committee chairs seated. Right now McConnell is trying to hold them hostage by playing hardball on the rules but he knows that manchin won’t go along with him for too long so it is just a short term play to delay Biden’s agenda and see if the Dems eff it up and start working the “problem solvers caucus” to stall
momentum for stimulus. So far so good for Mitch.

I can kind of appreciate Mitch's stance/play on rules. Like why not ask the majority to put themselves in a negotiationing position with less power and leverage straight up before you have to negotiate/message for 2 years? It even falls within a priority of giving them less time to govern as a majority.

Mitch capitulated on demanding that the new rules include guarantee of filibuster.

Georgia, actually. Also, Sandmann the Smirking Smirker fired him this week. From Forbes:

Quote
The Georgia Bar’s proceedings are the latest consequence Wood has faced for his post-election actions. The attorney has been removed from a separate case in Delaware where he represented former Trump advisor Carter Page over his “toxic” post-election litigation. Nicholas Sandmann, an 18-year-old from Covington Catholic High School who gained attention for his viral standoff with a Native American elder, also fired Wood as his attorney on Tuesday. MSNBC host Joy Reid has asked a New York federal court to remove Wood from a defamation case against her, and Mercer Law School is facing pressure to remove Wood’s name from a courtroom at the school. Dominion Voting Systems, which has already filed two $1.3 billion lawsuits against attorneys Powell and Rudy Giuliani, has suggested it may pursue litigation against Wood for spreading baseless election fraud claims involving the company’s voting machines, though nothing has yet been filed.

The best thing he could do for himself at his impeachment trial is probably to just stay quiet and not present a defense, anyway. The repulicans won't convict, and anything he puts out there will only make himself look worse.

Somewhere in the equation is McConnell and a bunch of non-MAGA senators who actually don't want to see a shitshow from Trump's side.

This is indeed weird. Seems Graham, as usual, is doing it at the behest of Trump. Why does Trump not want witnesses? Because they might incriminate him?

I like to imagine that there is a parallel universe very close to our own where the Myanmar military coup was replaced with the Mypillow military coup.

Does he still have executive privilege or could be arrested for contempt of Congress if he doesn't testify?
