Yeah some drunks got into a fight and one got sucker punched.  Allegedly, the culprits weren't even students at State but in their mid 20's; reliving the "glory days" I suppose.

yeah, we have them around our campus, too. They're called graduate students

Sooooo you're graduate students aren't students?

How much of the town was built by slaves?

LOL Like the Kansas territory didn't have slaves...

And none is the answer.
I like that you glossed your statement by saying Kansas "territory." The State of Kansas never had slaves. We fought a war against Missouri to be sure of that.

No glossing.  Just stating facts.

Ok so just to clarify you're referring to post-louisiana purchase territory but pre-statehood? So like circa Kansas/Nebraska Act? Just want to make sure we're all on the same page here. Thanks go cats

Yes. I know all about the Bleeding Kansas.  And we know the history of the Civil War down here and not the liberal version taught in our public schools.

Let’s just say brothers didn’t kill each other over slaves that they didn’t own or couldn’t afford.  Only a few elites owned slaves.  It was the wealthy that ran the state government and in positions of power that sold the war to the poor as being a war over “State’s rights” or sovereignty. They are also the ones that wrote the articles of secession. Not your average poor farmer that owned no slaves. Mississippi is now one of the most racially diverse and racially harmonious areas of the country. Unless you are an Ole Miss fan.  Those people are insufferable.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Oh I don’t!  It was a huge mistake. Embarrassing. Wish it had never happened. But I can not control things that happened 110+ years before I was born. I don’t hold you responsible for European colonialism. So why am I being held responsible for things that I cannot control. My ancestors actually migrated from the North post Civil War. So I’m not a proponent and never have been of secession or segregation.

It’s one thing to erase history and another to quote a minority voice. While both are wrong.... keep riding that high horse.

We should write the entire civil war out of the history books imo.

I am actually going to the game as well and I have zero interest in meeting up with you to tailgate because you undoubtedly refer to it with your friends as The War On Northern Aggression.

War of Northern Aggression?  Lol. No! And where did I say that? The South seceded for slavery, period. All I stated was that those men who died for the Confederacy didn’t own slaves and were misled by the rich and powerful in control who wanted to keep their slaves. No, and I don’t think my black friends at my tailgate would call it “The War of Northern Aggression” either.
