I found this list in my meme files from Dec. 3, 2022. Take it with a grain of salt, if you wish, and don't ask me where I found it because I don't remember. Could be legit, could be a list someone made up. I just don't know.

The result isn't different of course.  We're still not getting answers.

But Fitz implied that this was cover for Trump's personal embarassment, and based on (1) the prior admin likely having access to this and (2) a pretty contentious election last fall, it seems unlikely that Trump's own implication is the motive.

My guess is CIA/foreign interest concerns.  But regardless, the story we're getting seems like total horseshit.

I agree on the last part, but I think generally you have two plausible scenarios: (1) there is (or was) a client list involving someone that Trump wants to protect from criminal charges (including himself), or (2) Bondi lied about there being one as part of a disinformation campaign.

Either one is inexcusable.

I posted this in another thread, but I'm pretty sure that if the former admin releases that list and Trump is on it, he says "it's an absolute witch hunt" and all the people who were going to vote for him anyway go ahead and believe him, then it's forgotten about between the election and when he takes over and he has no consequences for it.

In all honesty, if that list is released October 2024, does Trump actually lose enough support to lose the election? He's wiggled his way out of absolutely everything.

Right. I mean, whether he is (probably) or isn't on the list. I definitely think there are just tons of rich and powerful who are and it's a giant cesspool. And we reward them with even bigger tax breaks so they get even more money and keep pushing more people to the brink.

Trump's team just says whatever is necessary to get elected.  The list's existence didn't matter to them, they just knew saying they would release it would motivate voters. They would've had the list in term one if it existed and certainly would know what was on it.  Some reveal by electing them is laughable when they didn't reveal it before.

Lying actually makes the most sense to me because if you're one of those people that the lie aligns with your worldview then you're not going to care/listen when its revealed to be a lie, you've already accepted it as gospel. And then also from a risk management standpoint, under this current administration the only consequence for telling just the most audacious lies has been...well, literally no consequences. its really just do/say whatever you want.
