What's the point of being filthy rich if you can't be King of America every once in a while?

The infatuation with Musk on this board is something to behold.  You remember when a good swath of you made fun of him years ago when he bought twitter and most of you thought that Tesla stock was going to tank (SD)?  . You really shouldn't get so caught up in hating him and just bow to your overlord. :whistle1:

Elon paid $44B for Twitter and X is currently worth $10B.  Is that not something to laugh about?

Quote
Elon Musk’s X is worth nearly 80% less than what he paid for the social platform, previously known as Twitter, when he bought it two years ago, according to new estimates from Fidelity.

The financial services company, in its annual Blue Chip Growth Fund report on Saturday, valued X at 78.7% less than the $44 billion he paid for the company in October 2022. That would make X worth $9.4 billion today.

Fidelity, according to its report, made a $19.66 million investment into X right before Musk bought the company. At the end of August 2024, Fidelity’s estimated its investment was now worth $4.2 million.

It's def something to LOL about, especially since he basically accidentally bought it and way overpaid and then tried to get out of the deal and was forced to purchase it. Unfortunately, he has probably already made up for that loss by a lot by turning it into a MAGA megaphone thus giving him access to Trump and being named Co President.

Laughing at the over paying of twitter might be understandable but regardless of that you forget what he was able to accomplish with it.  You also didn't seem to say anything about the Tesla stock or his net worth overall?

I'm not sure what he accomplished with it, other than making it so links to this site don't work right and losing a whole bunch of users.

I don't know anything about Tesla stock or stocks in general. I'm assuming it's going well just based on the number of Teslas I would see in the DFW area when I lived there.

Let's only do it for people who have right leaning views though.  Who cares about Bezos, Zuck or new Medal of Honor winner because their intent is special..

Is this a serious post? Regardless, it appears we are on the same page and we should get rid of citizens united and get the money out of politics no matter which side. Glad to have you on board PW.

Didn't Bezos and Zuck both donate $1M to Trump's inauguration?

How much did they spend on the dems in 2020?

I can't find any indication that either one donated anything

Hot takes?
Do you ever comprehend what you read? Of course you don't. Mcat was talking about using money to influence the political landscape.  It started with talking about Musk and I brought up some others.  2020 doesn't count?  Grats to those guys for being smarter this time around I guess?

The great thing about the latest Musk bit is watching #blueanon lining up and standing shoulder to shoulder with radical Islam and their archaic misogynistic ways

Then again, #blueanon political leaders just welcomed a terrorist into the leadership of Syria

He hasn't been, the opposite in fact.

But that's a fantastic deflection away from the worthy criticism that Musk is heaping upon the UK/EU.
