What you're essentially proposing is that the U.S. just stand by and allow this guy to continue to attack Americans and the U.S. continue to do nothing. Don't bring the "he was fighting ISIS" BS to this discussion, he was fighting ISIS because they're a threat to Iranian power within the region and that's the only reason. This guy reported directly to the top of Iranian leadership, he had no civilian overseer's, so his actions were the desires of the very top aka an Islamic Fundamentalist regime that just today defended their executions of LBGTQ people. It's pretty simple, don't plan and lead attacks on U.S. embassies (an act of war) and don't die. All this obfuscation about how it could have been other entities is BS, they had this guy pegged 24/7 and have for years, he thought he was untouchable. He wasn't in Iraq to be a diplomat, he was in Iraq to plan other attacks with Iranian backed factions.
