I normally wouldn’t bother with something this dumb, but it is the official position of the US that the following are all true

1) killing Soleimani was justified, legal, and not an act of war
2) the act made the US, it’s allies in the region, and Americans in the region safer
3) this action was part of our maximum pressure campaign, but was also a de-escalation
4) if Iran responds in any way, we will respond without proportionality and have a list of 52 targets including political leaders and cultural sites

Have not got a real clear strategic goal which now seems to be that Iran is supposed to look at all this and then come back to the table and negotiate another nuclear deal? But Pompeo and others seem to be pretty openly suggesting that they don’t want to deal with the “theocrats and kleptocrats” in Tehran and that this will probably lead to a popular uprising.

Sounds like this is all very well thought out and going great.
