Van Pelt did show Diarra's dunk about eight times from two or three camera angles, saying how if Zion had done something like that ESPN would have broken in live for a replay (also noted Diarra's name isn't pronounced anything like it's spelled).

Unlike my man Stan Van Gundy and DUD Hall of Famer, Andy Katz, SVP pronounced it correctly.

I can only imagine how shitty of a day Jason Sudeikis had today
t’s and p’s to you and your hot ass wife who only married your unfunny ass because you’re on television

Do you think Jason and Rob Riggle get together to work on not being funny?

I thought Chauncey threw in a "Yada" at one point.

I'm not trying to defend them, but I guess I am, Those guys call a crap ton of games and are neutral announcers. Which means, they don't cover a team on the reg and have to get to know two new rosters. Yeah, get their early and go through the pronunciation key with local staffers, but sometimes it's still hard to stick the hard names in your head.

I enjoyed Chauncey's story of meeting cartier's dad in Brooklyn or whatever and it was completely obvious that Chauncey had no memory of it but was just repeating what the dad told him before the game.

Back in the early 00’s I worked at Bramlage and for one of the nationally televised football games they had me be a gopher at the pre-game production meeting. The on air guys spent probably a solid half hour going over, rehearsing, and making notes on correct pronunciation of names.

Moral of the story is if they care about pronouncing player names right they will. Maybe a slip up here and there but not spend the entire game mispronouncing it.

Apropos of nothing beyond discussion of SVG, here is the greatest photo of a coach ever taken.

He's on Dan Lebatard's radio show every Thursday and that photo wasn't even a part of the staged shoot, it was taken by one of the players.

Also, different Van Gundy, but I loved this commercial.
