Hostiles - 5/7

Christian Bale is the lead. Reviews on it weren't great, but I enjoy these types of films. Christian Bale is in the army and he has to transport some Native Americans to Montana.

I liked hostiles too

Plot has an old timey western movie feel with all the modern movie making perks.

Ava - 4/7

Not great. Even Jessica Chastain could not save this turd. The story is just a mess.

Tenet - 4/7. Some really great scenes lots of cool stuff and Kenneth Branagh but it kind of felt like Nolan was just going through the motions

I may or may not have made this point last year too but The Gremlins is the most underrated Christmas movie OAT.

I watched Hostiles the other day based on your rec.  Thank you, I liked it a lot.

How have we made it this far into the Christmas season without a thread where esteemed posters argue about whether certain movies should be considered Christmas movies?

Is The Santa Clause a Christmas movie or is it a commentary on the pitfalls of climbing the corporate ladder, societal pressure to stay thin, and the poor treatment fathers get from divorce judges, that only happens to take place during the Christmas season?

I think its something bigger than that...I think it was a special time called the 90s where disney movie execs were like "holy crap this Tim Allen guy is a star! lets just like, put him in everything!" and then bam you've got toy story, you've got the santa clause, you've got jungle to jungle, you've got for richer or poorer and i mean to his credit he's a fine actor and did fine in those films but at some point i think they were just sitting around asking themselves "what can we put tim allen in?" what a time to be alive

Eating his salad on his lunch break is incredible.

But the Ritter and Bernie Mac scenes are incredible too. Virtuoso stuff.

Completely agree. That first season of Fargo, to me, was so good because I found myself just laughing my ass off at Billy Bob, or just watching mesmerized at his performance.

Funny but not hilarious, a little scary but not frightening or gory. It's entertaining and moves very fast, doesn't drag at all. The beginning is kinda 80's politically incorrect but it's funny to see how relic'y it is. I'm pretty sure your kids are around the same age as mine, watch it with them.

Especially a comedy like that one, it's dark as eff, but yes the best and I second whoever mentioned the salad scene. Love to my guy Tony Cox, he was perfect with Billy Bob.

I may have posted this last year but if you have kids and Netflix (or even if you don't have kids)  go ahead and watch Klaus.  At first it doesn't seem good but then it is actually really good.
