Anybody watch Bright on Netflix? What a delightfully stupid and cliched movie. They literally turned Lord of the Rings into a buddy cop movie. With a healthy dash of Will Smith being Will Smith. Even a dash of Training Day. Very much enjoyed this.

Speaking of Will Smith, how has that dude not aged a day since ID4?! He’s gotta be doing some sort of experimental gene therapy the rest of us can’t afford. Damn! (In sassy Will Smith voice).
Just watched it while dying of manflu. Horrible movie.

Obviously, we need more LOTR treatments of other genres. Maybe a Middle Earth romcom next? Sweet Home Alabama is ripe for adaptation.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Was it supposed to be delightfully stupid, or is it unintentionally stupid?

I read a bunch of the user reviews.  It’s absurdly highly rated by users, but those users chose what they were going to watch and the critics HAD to watch it.  I love fantasy books/movies, so I am going to give it a shot, even tho I am not a Will Smith fan at all.

Critics are getting less and less reliable. Review aggregators like Rotten Tomatos are almost worthless because they include so many terrible critics. Just for example, if you samples the reviews of the latest Star Wars movie, you’ll find that a goodly chunk of them focus on praising how the various narratives and diverse cast fit social aims, and largely ignore the slow, scattered, plot-hole riddled story. Another example would be the recent Ghostbusters reboot. RT’s aggregate “User Reviews” may be totally skewed by trolling etc. but somehow seem to a hit closer to the mark for me.

A better metric would be to find one or two critics you tend to agree with and just go with them. That would be an interesting website - one that pairs you with compatible critics based upon how closely you line up on a spread of movies.

bright, really cool concept and production value and action, but embarrassingly shitty writing and plot.

have it, works great.  nice to see a movie and not care if it sucked because you didn't pay for it.  I've seen about a dozen movies in 6 weeks.

The Greatest Showman.

I took the Mrs. for a date night not really expecting much.  It was actually a pretty fun movie.
