Huh.  We have some guys in this thread who are very interested in Ben Affleck's penis, some others who like women covered in blood.  Poet Warrior is probably rolling over in his grave.

i know we dont like to be validated by award shows but she got nominated pretty much everywhere for that one. i dont think she was omg the best, but she was damn good. cant believe anyone wouldnt enjoy her role.

I gather, its a mis-adaptation from the book, but the unreliable narrative portion of the movie felt really dishonest to me.  Its one thing to have mis-direction.  Its another to have actual scenes showing something, then to later in the movie say "Naaaaa, that crap didn't happen"   On top of that I thought the writing and really even the acting for that matter was terrible.

seems important enough to maybe be worthy of second discusso, no? i mean today is columbus day but we're just recently finding out how big of a dirtbag that guy was. things change, facts become fiction, truths become lies.

Agreed, the Gone Girl score has been universally praised even more than Rosamund Pike's acting performance.  Someone get in here and tell us why you think the score isn't good.

Gone Girl Score?  More like Yawn Girl Bore.  Should be called "Reznor and Ross Present Sleepytime Lullabyes:  23 Soothing melodies for you and baby."

FreundinSonntag informed me that the scenes in the book were clearly marked as being read from a journal, but in the movie there are flashbacks of Ben's character getting violent toward his wife that never actually happened, it's explained later.  Or at least that's my recollection.

I thought it was obvious that they were flashes of what the investigator thought had happened while she was reading the journal....but I have read the book, so I really don't know how it came across to someone who hadn't read the book.

So dishonest

Kind of like in the Sixth sense when Brice Willis was shown in those scenes interacting with other people....but then it turns out he actually wasn't interacting with them at all.

Don't think they were. Still think it's a shitty narrative device.
