the 3rd act of Edge of Tomorrow ruined all the good work done in the first 2 acts

yeah. there was a sort of "armegeddony" feel to the last twenty minutes, but i still liked it.

so I went and watched Nightcrawler.  It's pretty great to watch a matinee on a weekday where you are the only one in the theatre.  Makes you feel like you bought it.  Really nothing new to add, jg lays down some decent acting chops.  Probably his best since Zodiac.  I honestly didn't know Rene Russo was still around.

Good call on the Dodge porn, for fucks sake, I thought some movies were bad about advertising a car, but this one probably takes Rick's cake.

"One Starry Christmas"

This tale of Christmas love found on a bus, involving an astronomer (well, candidate) and a wayward lonely cowboy.  At one point the astronomer prays to Santa.  I enjoyed her talk about having her "dissertation" on Friday. The banter between the clearly mentally broken down parents is a great touch.  Lots of folksy cowboy wisdom, a nattily attired older brother named Bull (also a cowboy played by legendary country star George Canyon), and a smarmy city slicker lawyer make a perfect combination for Christmas magic!

I give this three candycanes!

Bill was a wild one....and he loved a pretty young filly named Josephine...

It's a fun movie once it gets going.  Someone else said it too, but it's like ground hog day but with guns and aliens.

I don't love many movies.  But I loved Edge of Tomorrow.  What a fun film.

John Wick was a fun romp. But I went with two girls and they weren't as in to how violent it was. So there's that as an option.

Edge of Tomorrow isn't in theaters anymore I don't think.  I don't see movies until they are super duper old usually.

I did not care for the science fiction underpinnings behind edge of tomorrow.  Half-assed nonsense.  The rest was fun more or less.

I thought the corn looked way healthier than corn would ever look under dust bowl conditions in Interstellar.

Yes, I thought it was pretty good. Tom Cruise really picked up a movie that would have been mediocre at best with anyone else in the starring role and turned it into something great.

Nope.  It was the manner in which the alien race utilized or triggered the power and worse how the power is transferred.  Lazy and unimaginative.  Phoned in to get to Tom being Tom, which as I said was great.  I understand what they did, but I don't respect it.  It could have been more elaborate and involved without skimping on the Tommery.  Also, the ending doesn't even fit with the simplistic rules they established.

I understand most people don't give a crap, but it's just a shame is all.  5th place etc.

I enjoyed it, but the whole time they had gotten right in my ass from the beginning with their shitty science fiction explano.  I mean have a little pride in your imagination is what I say to them.  Tom isn't always going to be there to save their asses.
