Gone Girl: Had to close my eyes like 4 different times. Disturbing. I liked it I guess but part of me was just more disturbed than anything else. Also (warning spoiler alert) why didn't the white trash couple that robbed Amy realize it was Amy? Especially after she resurfaced. They could have gotten her busted. And why was the woman detective just like "Yeah, she probs killed NPH but what are you gonna do? Good luck with life Nick!" I dunno. It seemed like the FBI and cops did zero investigative work after the hospital interview. I found that part pretty annoying.

I mean, if you weren't disturbed by Gone Girl you might not have a soul. Super gross.

SPOILERS in response to Cartier:

I haven't seen the movie but in the book when the rednecks that rob Amy she has already gained weight and changed her hair length/color. she watches TV with the girl who eventually robs her as they are "friends" before and they watch the show that Nick goes on together, so if the girl didnt notice her when she was sitting right next to her, i doubt she would recognize her and come forward afterwards. also she killed NPH in self defense according to everyone else because she had the rape kit, hairs in the back of his trunk, tied to the bed rope burns, etc. they knew they couldnt prove it... but yeah, the ending is infuriating. i doubt they go into that much detail in the movie but maybe?

im gonna go see gone girl friday. looking forward to it.

The biggest issue I had with the whole NPH thing is...

Surely someone saw him the day he was supposed to have kidnapped her. Her story would all fall apart if he had an alibi for the time when she was kidnapped.

nope.

he was going back and forth between that house and his moms house where nick meets him at the beginning. he could have kidnapped her and then gone about his day..
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

OK, I don't think they addressed that in the movie. I was thinking he showed up earlier in the book but couldn't remember when/where.

OH I watched Fast 6 Furious, what a thrill ride!

Once again Michelle Rodriguez shows her amazing range, from looking sullen to looking very angry!  Vin Diesel (modern day Sly) is always a delight, I was dropping Vin impressions all night long to whoever was nearby ("You're not afraid of the dark are you?"), but in some instances I was well into Sly territory.  I was very sad when Gisele fell into the darkness, I wanted them to go to Tokyo :(. Shaw was a great bad guy.  Didn't really need Paul IMHO.

Watched most of The Purge last night. What a shitty movie.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

If you like acting, Nightcrawler. Gyllenhaal kills it (heh). Gone Girl is a fun story.

Can not comment on the other two, but unless it's a comedy that's going to go down in history as one of the best, it's hard for me to justify seeing it in the theater.

nightcrawler.  this film reminds me a lot of Denzel Goolsby.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I'm sure it's been talked about previously, but I watched Lone Survivor a couple nights ago.  I thought it was really good

Fury was outstanding.
Gone Girl was decent, but I preferred the book (natch)
I've heard Nightcrawler is good acting but meh story.
Haven't heard anything about St. V.

I've only seen Nightcrawler...as mentioned, great acting...JG is super creepy. Interesting idea for the plot but it left something to be desired. If you like Dodge Challenger porn, this is your movie.

Gone Girl sounds horrible.  I don't like disturbing images in a movie.  I prefer happy/funny images.

the previews make it look like just horrible absolute trash. did you see the part where the old lady tricks jim carey into fisting her snizz and then he blows all the dust off his hand?

Not recent, but saw The Young Savages on TCM.  It was made in 1961, and has some really good acting from Burt Lancaster, and was the movie premiere of Telly Savalas.  I usually don't even begin watching BW movies, but this one was good.

If anybody wants an awesome summary of everything that was awesome about the '80s, I highly recommend The Last Dragon. Just watched it two nights ago.
