The Place Beyond the Pines .... pretty good! probably too long though. i had completely forgotten what was in the trailer so i had no idea what the story was, was thrown off when SPOILER ALERT gosling died so early in the movie.

Stranger Than Fiction ... hadn't watched this in a while, man i really enjoy it! will ferrell is pretty good along with emma thompson and dustin hoffman, and i love the crap out of maggie gyllenhaal in this.

Pines is my favorite movie of last year. I've seen it probably 15 times already.  What I'm saying is I really enjoy that movie.

I would say that is accurate, this one was more visceral and less emotional.  I really enjoyed Eva Green's performance.

I saw Bag Man and Catching Fire this weekend.  They were both decent.  JL's cry face is bad though.  I would recommend Bag Man over Catching Fire.  Nonsense, but entertaining.

Beavis and Butthead Do America Been a while but it is very underrated. Better than the South Park movie & the Simpsons movie, even though I was never a fan of the Beavis and Butthead TV show.

oh man, this and the south park movie and big lebowski were probably my biggest (movie) anticipation moments of high school and none of them let me down.

(south park movie is better tho)

The Purge ... pretty awful. disappointing too because it's such a great premise. why did the girl's bf try to kill the dad? why was every character so completely stupid?

I see that a lot from people: the purge had a great premise.  How the eff is that a great premise?  It's rough ridin' asinine.  Oh hey you get to break the law one day so now crime is way down and the economy is much better.

The vast majority of crime isn't because people have this generalized pent up aggression.  It's either financially motivated or emotionally motivated.  People would still have an incentive to deal drugs and steal/defraud or kill their spouses or exes etc out of jealousy or hate.  Sex offenders would still be regularly rapey and molesty.  That crap doesn't disappear the other 364 days because you get to eff crap up one day of the year.  rough ridin' dumb.  Crime is down so magically there are more jobs is also rough ridin' dumb.

I hate the premise.  It fits perfectly that the movie was crap.

Just saw this a couple days ago, and you summed up my thoughts perfectly.

Did the bf think he was going to get to hang out with the gf more if he killed her dad? Like she was going to be all "Oh, you killed my dad, but it was on Purge night so it's ok. I still love you. Grrrrrrrrrr!"

i don't disagree with you. i don't think it was a great premise because i believe that's really how people are, i just think something really cool could have been done with the idea.

maybe if they had established somehow that the daughter was in on it... but no it was just some rogue plan by the bf because her dad didn't approve of him (which we actually hadn't actually witnessed). add to it that it occurred at the exact same moment that the homeless guy was let in... just bizarre.

Ethan Hawke haters are dumber than Stevesie when it comes to TV shows. EH is a superb actor and has incredible range.
