Fruitvale Station - So, so real. A part of me was a little upset with the character development, since Oscar is supposed to be a pretty complex character but it's very difficult to fit it all into 90 mins, but that may just be because I've been watching a lot of TV series who have like, forever to develop complex characters.

I enjoyed this movie quite a lot.  Like you said, it felt very real.  I thought that Michael B Jordan did a great job

John Dies at the End

It's as weird as you expect.  I was tired when i watched it and dosed in and out of sleep during the last 20 minutes.  I don't really care about figuring out how it ended or anything like that.

little brother wants to see The Grudge Match tonight :dubious:

Well the apple doesn't fall to far from his apple brother then, does it?

He's not related, jerk.

Nature vs nurture

we went to see frozen instead. it was good, very similar to "Tangled," which I like. worth a watch.

The Act of Killing - Very hard to watch. It's a documentary that interviews men who were military when Indonesia became a military government in 1965. They killed everyone who was communist, Chinese, or they thought were communist or Chinese. The film makers basically have these guys act in a "movie" that revisits what they did, and they tell all the "actors" that they are going to show Americans how much good these guys did to eliminate communism. And of course they're so egotistical that they go along with it without thinking twice. When they act out the victims you see it dawn on them exactly what they were doing to people, like they had never had an ounce of empathy in their life until they were basically forced to. It is a pretty bizarre look into the psychology of a killer.

agreed, then finding out Hanks improvised the last scene and showed real emotion, puts it over the top.

I need to be convinced to see this film. Tom Hanks with a beard on a boat? I saw that one already when it was called 'Cast Away.'

August - Osage County - Phenomenal cast and performances.  Probably multiple grammy awards.  I laughed, I cried, I laughed again... It was a very very well done movie.  4 stars.

Captain Phillips - Nobody even hears about it if Tom Hanks doesn't play the lead. Nobody talks about it without the last 10 minutes. Tom Hanks in the last 10 minutes makes it worth seeing the other 2 hours.

This dork store watched a pirated version with no subtitles so obviously he had no idea what was going on throughout the movie. Your review is meaningless.

They talked in English for all the important stuff. And it adds to the thrill since Captain Phillips wouldn't have known what they were saying, either. Highly recommended.

I saw this last night. Pretty good. If Tom Hanks isn't in that movie, does it even exist? I mean seriously, no one would know about it.

Yeah I saw wolf of wallstreet too and it felt like money porn.

We're rich, we're rich, we're riiiiiiiiiiich!

Really liked it though.  The Best Picture conversation still begins and ends with "Her."  Still need to watch Nebraska, Dallas Buyer's Club, and Captain Phillips.  I don't know if i'll bother with Philomena -- British people movies just don't do it for me.
