went on a movie binge the last 2 weeks.  i'll now power rank the movies i've seen.

1. her
really great.  really really great.  really funny, and really love storyey and just wonderful.  (also so weird to see amy adams in this compared to american hustle, what an actress!)

2. wolf of wall street
oh man, so funny.  people complaining about it being too long are dorks, i want to see the original 4hr cut.

3. hobbit 2
ugh, come on dude, should have made this trilogy into a rough ridin' sology.  cut out ALL the orc and necromancer crap and just give me some smaug action.  smaug is so rough ridin' great OMG

4. american hustle
was pretty disappointed in this.  felt disjointed and completely propped up by great actors. amy adams tho... wow... just... wow.

5. inside llewyn davis
not much to say about this.  huge disappointment.  not the worst coen brothers movie ever (that honor goes to o' brother), but def on the bottom half or quarter of their films.

whoa, i thought we were cool.

I thought. "Oh Brother" was incredible. I may have to turn your list upside down.

Just starting Hatfields and McCoys. Midway through Ep. 1. I'm thoroughly enjoying this. Then again I'm a sucker for western type movies (perhaps this is a show), both classic and modern.

I also love Costner in roles that suit him and this one does.

me too
my fav. classic and modern western of late though was 3:10 to yuma there hasn't been anything out in forever it seems like

Open Range was excellent.
Also H's & McC's is great, how could anybody not think it is great?
I also watched the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for the first time a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. So much Tarantino stuff is just ripped right out of Leone westerns! It's crazy.

Seven, I was really enjoying your movie reviews until that last little bit about O' Brother invalidated your opinion on movies forever.  Although now I really want to see Inside Llewyn Davis because it is apparently better than a really great movie.

This.

The Spectacular Now

A nice little indie dramedy (more drama, less comedy).  Not the most original concept (popular boy meets dorky girl, but don't be so fast to judge a book by its cover!).  Anyhow, i thought this was very well done and does a good job of presenting the main character's flaws and his love interest's flaws, but still entices the viewer to root for them.

A great coming of age film. Best movie I've seen in the last few weeks. I would recommend to anybody.

generally speaking, old movies stink.
yeah and the ones that had good plots have been remade and are now better

I really hope you aren't including old (non-spaghetti, which are also great) westerns in your bashing of old movies.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Anchorman 2 was OK.

Ok?  Is haven't endured that much painful laughter (snowboarding injury) in a very long time.

Going to see anchorman 2 with some bros from work on Tuesday matinee

What a great movie to see with the bros.  I might have to take it in again with some of the MHK bros. Maybe a jazz sesh beforehand. Tons of laughs.

I enjoyed Anchorman 2 very much.

I did as well.

Anchorman 2 .... loved it. exactly what i wanted.

Saving Mr. Banks .... also loved it. historical and charming!

It was, especially the first half of the movie. I feel like the first hour or so was laughs upon laughs then it kind of stalled, then they threw in some more uproarious laughter and then they kind of said "How far can we take these jokes," kind of like they were toying with the audience.

Still tons of

Have you ever seen "Two Mules for Sister Sara," Dlew?  It's great.  A bit of a spaghetti-type western if you ask me. A cinematic experience nonetheless.
