Open Grave.  I watched it because it had Sharlto Copely (sp) in it and I liked him in District 9 where he got turned into an alien bug man.  It was alright.  Medium.  Plot holes of course, but why not.  It still baffles me how you can write a movie and get it green lit and yet no one takes a second to say "Wait, this here, it doesn't work. In fact it's dipshitty nonsense. Let's fix it. It won't be hard at all."
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

Wolf on Wall Street had amazing acting and directing, but at the end of the day the story will keep it from winning Best Picture. It's very predictable and overdone, which is not to say I wasn't entertained all 3 hours of it, because I definitely was. It just seemed like it had no real message. And as Twitter has indicated, there is a ton of nudity. I'm honestly surprised it wasn't NC-17.

oh man.. I should've gone to see it.. the only thing I'm more disapointed in is that I went to AggieStation today for my bday lunch and it was closed.. So I had to go to tasty china house because lets be honest it puts everyone else out of business

after twitter and stevesie's review, i expected WAY more nudity.  americans are really hung up on that stuff... it was all really fleeting.

Haven't seen it yet.  But, of course it's predictable.  1) it's Boiler Room 2.0.  2) it's a true story.  I mean, you know what happens before you go into the theatre, no?

I saw American Hustle today. It was pretty much the same as my WOWS experience. Every scene was so good, acting and directing were great, but as a whole it didn't do much for me. They both are worth seeing and I'd probably rate American Hustle over WOWS, but I probably had too high of expectations going into them.

Sick day means I watched The Best Worst Movie, Serpico, and Once Upon a Time in the West.

The Best Worst Movie: was definitely interesting, if for no other reason to see how differently people in Troll 2 dealt with being in the movie. Also have never seen Troll 2 and probably don't plan on it, so it's not necessary to watching the doc.  :raccoon: :raccoon: :raccoon:

Serpico: Had never seen it. Pacino is ridic.
:raccoon: :raccoon: :raccoon: :raccoon:

Once Upon a Time in the West: Classic.

I watched Bo Burnham's new comedy special "what." It's on Netflix and google tells me you can watch the whole thing on youtube as well. Easily the funniest stand-up show I've ever seen. It's more along the lines of Demetri Martin where there are different segments with different themes in oppose to straight up stand-up. There are probably 2 of the 12 segments that I didn't find that entertaining, with the other 10 or so being absolutely hysterical. That's still a better batting record for stand-up than I'm used to.

I'm a huge Bo Burnham fan. I think his Words Words Words special is genius.

What. was a little lackluster for me.  I'd seen a lot of those bits before (he did several of them when he came to MHK a couple years ago) and the new songs were seemed like just cynical downers.  I can't be too critical, because he released the thing for free, but still.

Maybe he just gave himself too much to live up to with Words Words Words, but What. just didn't do much for me.

I think going into it without seeing any of his stuff for about 5 years was the best thing that could have happened for me. I think when you see more and more specials from the same comedian they tend to become less appealing because you learn their schticks, or they reuse material that you've already seen, etc. It just seemed so original to me, especially the bit after he drops the water bottle.
