Is her only angle to potentially get her own TV show or something? There seems to be no precedence for that, it works the other way but not the Congress to TV star. Is she angling herself for the 2028 presidential election? If Trump loses maga, as a national thing, will be done. The Larry Hogan and Mike Dewine types will be who the Republican party will lean on.

lmao how does anyone believe this???

Maga is the Republican "establishment." Larry Hogan, Nicky Haley, Bob Dole types are gone.

Yeah I used to believe this. I'm coming around to there simply being a very large number of bad people in this country who previously thought they had to at least pretend to be humane to have a chance of gaining power.

yep, I was the same way. I used to just think the old saying "cruelty is the point" was just the crazy MAGA types. The past several years have taught me that a very large amount of the "regular" republicans were just being quiet about it. I left the party when I learned that I was actually the minority.

1000%. I still have twitter mostly for sports stuff. That's how i've always used it and I've never even looked at the "for you" page. It never made any sense to me to have a computer tell me what I want when I could just follow people I want so Leon's bullshit doesn't affect me too much. I have dropped a few business type people that I really liked because I got tired of seeing the political stuff. That has def helped, but i'm really close to just dropping it altogether. I'd miss the sports stuff, but i'd be better off overall for sure. Seeing people scream, yell, and lie over political candidates is still just bonkers to me.

For me, I got rid of the twitter app on my phone, but kept my twitter.  This means that if I really want to see something (e.g. see what certain sports accounts have tweeted on the Sunday following a Cats W), I can do that, but I gotta actually go to "twitter.com."  I found that removing the "scrolling" stuff from my day-to-day has been a welcome change.

I noticed shortly after the switch was made to "X" that the app was chewing through the battery on my phone (like about 90% of the overall energy usage on the phone was X and I didn't even look at it more than a couple times a day), so I decided that I would rather live without twitter than having to charge my phone multiple times a day because of it.  Deleted the app and haven't looked back.  Probably one of the smarter decisions I've ever made.

Yeah deleted the app, still go to the site far too much, I guess for hopes of seeing something reasonable but it's such garbage. Tweets from people that have thousands of replies for some reason (and not even political or even prodigious thoughts) that get stuck in my timeline. Same reply guys on everything, same replies by the reply guys on crap, like it's crazy how you can have the same word for word response from 10 people (I get it's bots but like holy hell). It's a complete cesspool that only things like sickos committee and art but make it sports make it somewhat worth it. I want to be full on for reddit but reddit isn't user friendly (to me).

As for pubs moving on if he loses, I mean maybe, but their literal stance is to do whatever pisses "the libs" off. It's not a political identity and as others said it's designed to hurt people, not anything about raising others up, more knocking others down. Like just listening to them it makes america to be the worst place ever, and their messaging isn't even about making things better, just eliminating those bad things. I get politics always has a bit too high promise low delivery but hell is their view of america bleak.

Yep, this is a biggie for me too. One, they are wrong and America pretty much rules, but two, they haven't had a plan or platform in I don't know how many years. The entire platform is "Not That!!!!!!" The dog caught the car with abortion, so now it's full throttle on the border, but again, no solutions or anything, just that everything is awful and it's someone else's fault. Its exhausting.

To clarify, I'm not saying that the switch to X made the app or even the platform worse, just that that's when I noticed it was having such a deleterious effect on my phone's battery.

That doesn’t work well for if you also run niche sports/fetish combo accounts and tweet something to draw engagement but then aren’t around to see it for a week or two.

Dog that caught the car is a good analogy (and abortion + failing to do anything with Obamacare despite a super majority is the perfect illustration).

The vast majority of the MAGA movement is people who feel like they should be doing better than they are and can’t figure out why. If you’re in that spot it’s very tempting to listen to people screaming “I KNOW WHATS WRONG.”

I would argue that a large amount of the MAGA movement don't look, analyze, or reflect on what is going on and if they try, they give up because it is frustrating to not come to a simple answer that doesn't justify how they feel.  They simply look for something convenient to blame, go all in, then refuse any other possible answer unless it further justifies their feelings.

Correct. They will be just like Trump but without the cult of personality. GOP has very few national wins ahead of it, post Trump, unless they get another Trump or get a platform that isn’t whatever the eff they are doing now.

Aren't both sides essentially screaming "I KNOW WHAT'S WRONG" to that demographic?  And if they're not, shouldn't they be?  Isn't that kind of the central point of democracy?  "You could be doing better and I know how to make that happen"?

If political rhetoric was more focused on "I KNOW WHAT'S WRONG" than the general dialogue today, I think we'd actually be moving in the right direction.
