Absolutely hate these cheap ass people who won't check baggage. My wife suggested we do this on our flight down to Puerto Rico in a couple of weeks. I almost punched her in the face when she suggested it.

Has nothing to do with being cheap.  I get free checked bags with Delta and will (hopefully) never check a bag.
Most people have/should check bags.  Your crap isn't that important that you need to carry it on the god damned airplane with you.

Also have to check bags to bring back cheap bottles of liquor.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

What does it have to do with? Not wanting to wait the extra 10 minutes to wait for your stuff? Not looking like a rube waiting for the conveyor belt to start?  I sacrifice all of this stuff for the greater good.

Yeah, getting to the airport 30 minutes before my flight and getting into my rental car while people and their shitting kids are all standing around picking their asses waiting for their 7 bags to roll off the conveyor.  I don't see any need to sacrifice anything, there is no downside.

I am going to rough ridin' lose it some day when one of these mouth breathers hits me in head with his rough ridin' bag that should be in the belly of the plane. Came very close to this happening in Cancun last November.

I understand wanting to avoid the conveyor.  I truly do. You and your 1 bag that takes up very little space = no biggie. I don't mind the seasoned biz traveler and their well packed case.

It's the random dumbass family that feels the need to not check any baggage, which includes crap that is way too large for the bin yet they cram it in their anyways.  I also get to wait behind these people in the security line, which sucks, because they do not adhere to TSA regulations and hold up the entire works.

I'm just saying - I sacrifice for the greater good. I feel like i'm doing a civic duty by checking luggage.

SW Flight Report:

Not as terrible as I had feared.  Like most SW flights it was chock full of screaming kids but most had to sit in the very back because their parents are too dumb to check in 24 hours early and obv. need multiple seats together.  Rolled my eyes so everyone could see when they announced that all military could board first because it was Memorial day weekend (did this primarily because it reminded me of fatty).  Speaking of, I texted trips a picture of a diagram of DIA and he got it immediately.  Also rolled my eyes really big when the flight attendant announced there would be no peanuts because one person on the flight had peanut allergies.  I don't even eat peanuts but it felt like the right thing to do.

Man, the memorial day thing is awful.

Last time I traveled around memorial day they let military people get on first and leave first.  When the military folk left a bunch of rubes started clapping for them like they just made it to the Elite 8 or something.  Had to sit and wait through the entire spectacle.

This was on Delta, btw.

They can probably change the policy about letting them board/leave first but the clapping thing was instigated by the normal travelers.  Don't know what they can do about that.

i used to not care about checking baggage either until the airline lost our luggage for thirty six hours on a three day vacation to the beach. yeah, i'll stop off at target so my wife can pick out a new swimming suit for the weekend on our way to the hotel. no problem. not like that's going to take an hour or anything.

is there anything more elite feeling then strolling off the plane, bag on your shoulder and walking directly out to a waiting cab without even so much as farting near the people waiting for their crap checked bags?

(LAX is the best for this, I'm a huge LAX fan).  i can literally be off the plane and in a cab line within 2 minutes and driving up the PCH.  feels so damned elite.

the seasoned biz travelers are often the worst offenders.  especially when they fill the bin w/ laptop bags and overcoats.

Nine times out of ten I'm heading somewhere I don't need more than I can fit in my backpack.  Usually I have room to pack for two or three people's things in there.  And I keep it under the seat in front of me.  I don't really even like having to wait to pull something out of the over head compartments.

i love the fact that there are people here blaming the travelers for the airlines not enforcing their own rules.

i'm going to do whatever teh eff the airline lets me.  if they say i can try to fly the aircraft then i'm going to be in the cabin trying to do loops and crap.

Southwest can suck on it.
I remeber reading an article in Wired magazine a couple of years back talking about how Texas was interested in getting high speed rail to connect Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, that was until southwest came in with their "cattle call rates" and helped kill the rail idea.

It's perfectly reasonable to blame both.  You can completely follow the airlines' rules and still be a complete douchebag.

It's, 100% of the time, Mom and Pop Western Nebraska with their diaper bag, kids toy bag, personal backpack for each child, and their personal dvd player POS that they play, not with headphones, but out loud so everyone can hear it because their shitting kid can't wear headphones.  The same people that hold up the security line and same people that hold up everyone exiting the plane so they can unstrap their monster rough ridin' kid buggy.

agree w/ everything, but you need to invest in some headphones.

Yeah, I need some better ones.  But, I will still be infuriated knowing it's going on.
