I am very confused. Kav has to know how bad it looks to act belligerent toward Dems. He’s saying a lot of the wrong things for a guy who wants to get confirmed.

I have no idea if he’s doing it intentionally to show he’s more concerned with clearing his name than getting confirmed, or if he just sincerely DNGAF about winning anyone over at this point.

His audience isn't Dems.

discussion of the yearbook entry is relevant as the entry appears to memorialize some behaviors that judge has at various times attempted to deny and/or minimize.  it speaks both to his credibility and to the nature of his social interactions at the time he was accused of having assaulted blasey ford.

discussion of the calendar may have relevance in some other context, but has none with regard to whether judge was at a social gathering unless you believe he recorded everywhere he went and everything he did - a belief that is patently ridiculous.

It’s another WTF thing about his testimony. I’m thinking he refused to be prepped (whether that makes him more or less believable here, I’m still not sure). They say lawyers make some of the worst witnesses. He’s exhibit A.

it could be relevant in that context, but that is not the context in which it was used.  he used it to to try and assert that it could be inferred that he did not attend a social gathering with blasey ford because no such gathering was explicitly noted on the calendar.

i say explicitly, because some people have asserted than a notation including judge and "pj"s names might refer to the night of the alleged assault.

if that was the thinking, i think it was a mistake.  i don't think he can just stonewall all questions.  he could better get away with evading the dems' questions if he is also seen calmly answering questions from the surrogate.
