They are physically cleaning all of the servers trying to recover data and bring them back online. There is not a cloud system backup guys. Yes, I am serious.

This is an important distinction, because if it was “no” on both, then every person between IT leadership and Myers (and including Myers) should be fired with cause.  I’d also sue Myers personally.

Not having any physical redundancies in those systems is pretty inexcusable, especially if your primary is in a place with open public access.

Everything is backed up. KU backs up all of K-State's stuff and vice-versa. Hence why they were able to do the payroll.

I agree that universities do in fact spend a crap ton of money on libraries. I also agree that it very much appears that they spend way WAAAY more than they actually need to.

hale is what I refer to as a “smoke and mirrors “ library.  it was constructed of cheap materials and many, many, corners were skipped.  the truth is that I could rebuild it at the previous build quality/grade or better for ~$26M which really makes you wonder where did the other $4M go?

I did some really rough takeoffs yesterday, it’s about 400,000. Floor plans for all of KSU buildings are available on the KSU website, FYI
