Sanders is fringe. He doesn't even run as a democrat when he runs for senate.

And nicname was a Tulsi Gabbard supporter before that.  She's pretty fringe.

I’m still a Gabbard supporter.

My fave pres candidates have all been closer to the margins on a fair amount of policy, except for Kasich, who I really liked for the pubs in 2016.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Running as an independent doesn’t make him fringe, his policies do.

I guess when your main concern is candidates being pro-peace, not constantly occupying other countries, letting Americans live their lives on their own accord, and protecting the right to privacy and freedom of speech, you aren’t left with many options.

Edit: and also think identity politics are generally divisive and bad.

Almost every candidate I support's base is eventually flooded by extremists.

hmmm.

I was a huge Ron Paul guy back in the day (yes, he is fringe). Never liked Rand tbh. Seems untrustworthy.

I’ve was very apathetic to all politics until 2008.

I though Obama seemed like a good guy and really liked his DNC speech. I really liked Ron Paul’s message (I’m pretty sure I’m a small l libertarian at heart but know it’s prob not realistic as a form of gov for a whole country).

I liked Kasich on the pub side in 2016, and Bernie on the dem side. And liked Tulsi and Bernie this time around.

SD is right (as we usual). other than Kasich, all my guys (abd gal) are at the margins. I know a lot of their politics are at odds with each other as well, aside from being seemingly pro peace. I do think that most of my faves are anti big business/pro small business in their own way. Tbh, I don’t know a ton about Kasich, but he seemed like a good dude in 2016.

Mostly, I just felt none of them were bullshitters at the time.

i think a through line may be that you like candidates that don't like, or at least are out of step with, their party.  it probably leads to you perceiving them as not bullshitters because they deviate from the party's messaging in some significant way.

Agree. Would also add I’m generally very anti-neocon/neolib

Sorry to hijack thread guys.

That's way less painful than some of the blue check centrist commentary when she was announced

it feels like people are trying to make her "hip" and reminds me of really cringey tweets from when she was announced. It's not a big deal, I wouldn't think to hard about it
