If u numbnuts nominate Bernie, lol, well...
Yeah man, shame on the democrats for nominating an actual liberal. It isn't the job of that party to make you and you other "moderates" feel better for being a Republican. It took the democrats 60 years to find a liberal to run for president. It happened because your party thought they needed Trump to follow a black centrist. rough ridin' blame yourself and your party for finally waking up the sleepy and complacent liberals.
You rough ridin' republicans are something else, fix your rough ridin' party and stop expecting other's to vote against their own interests because your leaders only give a crap about keeping themselves rich. This is happening because people are tired of not being able to afford health care, want some leadership on kids getting gunned down in classrooms, and don't want racists and Nazis cozied up to be the country's leadership. Your fault that your party let these be liberal stances.
Twenty years ago Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bloomberg would be populist conservatives. There is no such thing as a populist conservative anymore, and these people don't have a place in the democratic party, as they shouldn't given they aren't liberals. Take your party back from the evangelicals, and Washington insiders getting money and power from the gun lobby, the private financial sector, and the health care industry.
He's a GDI, tho. And a cartoon character. I'll grant you that he appears to be sincere. But I simply cannot envision a President Bernie. Granted, I could not envision a President Trump, and maybe this is the populist pendulum swinging the other way...
He was only an independent because the democratic party spent a majority of our lifetimes squeezing out liberals in favor of do nothing but accept the status quo moderates. The most liberal president since Kennedy didn't support gay marriage and literally did nothing to advance any actual liberal cause. I can think of four things that have actually moved what we think of left since I started following politics in the 80's.
1. The Brady Bill, which was passed and championed by a Republican poster child. Subsequently rolled back and never advanced upon in 16 years of democratic leadership.
2. Legalization of gay marriage. Was not supported by the democratic president, forced by the Supreme Court.
3. Legalization of marijuana. Not supported by the democratic president, done by the states. In fact the democratic president used federal law enforcement to bully law abiding citizens in states that deemed the sell and use legal.
4. Criminal justice reform. Done by Donald Trump, to undo the damage done by one eight year democratic president and completely ignored by another.
There is a reason why the house takeover in '18 prominently featured progressives, the people, not the party, have finally started to be heard. The DNC is still very comfortable being the party of 21st century dixiecrats.
