the biden argument in one kickass graph.  also, it seems like seth moulton officially entered the race and i didn't notice till now.  so we're at 20 candidates.

https://twitter.com/MattGrossmann/status/1121077175019556870

538 had a similar chart, and the tweets made me think of what's going on with the moderate republicans ITT

All of that is far too much analysis of numbers that have no consequence at this point. All of these people are 100% aware of what the history of candidates who are "leading" nine months before the first caucus.

I think that Warren is the least likely of the candidates to beat Trump. A lot of people just don't like her.

That's patently untrue, 95% of the electorate don't know her. The people who don't like her, especially compared to the rough ridin' cheeto, wouldn't vote for any Democrat. There isn't a liberal in this country who doesn't like her. The Warren takes itt have been lazy as eff.

Liz would be 71 upon taking office. Why would anyone vote for someone that old to be president of the United States?

I think you have an unbalanced amount of animus towards Warren, we should figure out why you're so put off by this woman. She's one of several liberals, she isn't the youngest or oldest, she's polling 5th at best. What's your deal?

Not a good look if you're courting the worker / union vote.

I like Warren. I just don't like the idea of voting for someone over age 70 to a 4 year term. And lots of people really don't like her, whether it's for the native American claims (I love this about her, personally), her policy positions being too far left, or whatever. Lots of people didn't like Hillary, and now we have President Donald Trump.

i'm not sure these data are great arguments for sanders and klobuchar's electability, but i do think they're pretty good evidence that warren has electability concerns.

i'm kinda halfway either way on harris/booker.

Meanwhile, the suspicion that his candidacy is an anachronism makes it an extreme test-case for the Democrats’ biggest dilemma: how to reconcile the ideological purity demanded by an activist wing increasingly dedicated to racial, gender and sexual equality, with the real world of muddy compromises and more mixed social attitudes.

No way in hell Joe "Ray-Bans" Biden is LibDerp Whack-a-Doo enough for the new LibDerp Nation.    Unless it turns as I expect, that most of LibDerp Whack-A-Doo nation is what they are because Hillary lost, and as soon as anyone with (D) next to their name is in office, they'll fall back in line like the good little Brownshirts that they are . . . fully down with Washington business as usual:  As long as a Democrat is President.

good fundraising numbers for biden.  higher % of the money from large donors than for beto and sanders 1st day numbers, but that was expected.  97k is still an impressive number of donors for an establishment campaign without access to a fresh list.

his advance team mumped that up, big time.  i also think they're overdoing it with university events - his polls don't suggest his support skews young.  but they've yet to ask me for advice.

clinton also raised a lot of money from large donors.  she won, iirc.

I don't know that Biden won't win. He certainly could just go ahead and lead the thing the whole way and win it. But there are more similarities to the Republican field of '16 and Biden than Clinton vs. what was supposed to be a completely token opposition and almost being disliked enough to lose to Bernie and then getting her ass kicked by Trump.

there are some pretty important differences between biden and jeb too.  biden is much more popular with dems than jeb was with pubs in 2015.  and by 2015 gwb was pretty unpopular w pubs, while obama is still v popular w. dems.  tea party/house freedom caucus voters were a bigger share of 'pubs than dsa/justice dems are of dems, etc.

oth, jeb wasn't a super old man.  if biden loses (and i think his chances of winning are well under 50%), i think it will be because voters decide he's  too old, not because they reject him politically.
