I can't wait for the world cup.

Yeah I read that story earlier today, pretty messed up.

So Mexico lost infront of that crowd still with their group I still don't see them not making it out of their group but their struggles at all levels is making me smile.

Meh, the fact that there are a larger percentage of Mexicans that are soccer fans than Americans is nothing new. Have we even played a qualifier there since the Home Depot Center has been built?

I love Mexico struggling so badly, this isn't college sports where our aspirations are tied to how up or down our conference appears to be. I hired a Mexican national to work this summer and I love the pain on his face when I give him updates on how horrible his side is. Panama?

I read that we intentionally schedule our home games against Mexico in super white areas to mitigate their traveling home field advantage. I don't know if it's true, buts its hilarious.

It's hilarious to try to maximize a home field advantage?

Yeah its just plain facts. I went to a USA v. Mexico friendly in Houston, Texas once. It was laughable. USA fans were outnumbered 4 to 1.

It's hilarious when we have to play in Canada to pull it off.

This thread is walking a fine line between non-racist and racist. So far, we're safe and can keep the thread title.

cool looking TIFO but I don't like the message or atmosphere behind it.

It is a USMNT game keep the Cascadia  logos off of Uncle Sam, drop "community" and "club" out of it along with all the rough ridin' Timbers crap still outlining the stadium.

and the supporters section is singing songs about Portland.

this is part of the reason why Portland and Seattle didn't get USMNT games up until recently. Seattle at least took their own club chants/tradition/atmosphere and adapted it to the US and kept it about the National Team not the Sounders. Portland on the other hand is not doing that, and it is frustrating because they have passion and could be a great city for Gold Cups and Qualifiers vs non Canada and Mexico sides.

was actually in Portland last week for the Guatemala game. found the American Outlaws pub and went there expecting it to be pretty nuts. was pretty let down when i only saw about 20 people there. i asked the president about the turn out, he said, "well, for one it's gold cup so nobody really gets too pumped, but we are also in a 'club city'." he left it at that and I left not understanding how a "club city" was a bad thing. that pic makes it pretty clear, but it also kinda seems like portland might be unique in that respect. seemed like kc, dc, and seattle were all pretty great.  :dunno:

"Club cities" are the worst. You can't set down your Portland crap for one night and support the NATIONAL team?
