It's nothing like Qatar. University of Phoenix stadium has a retractable roof and real grass.

qatar is going to be a PR disaster for fifa

also sites will be decided way before the Qatar WC so even if there is some massive backlash against domes, it will have zero impact on the sites already awarded games for 2026

You think the retractable roof comes into play in July?

They'll get to play on real grass in tolerable conditions. They won't have that luxury at any other American venue.

no

You see something I haven't with regard to Canada?

Also Sdk, scott was a bit harsh there.  There are turf venues like Met Life Stadium, Cowboys Stadium, and CenturyLink Field that have to use temporary grass that has traditionally been terrible.

MIR made a point about playing on real grass. I was under the impression that all WC games were played on real grass. At least for the men, I know about the women having to play on turf.

So I didn't understand the point about playing on real grass that MIR was making.

scott, is a dillweed.

My point was that Phoenix (Glendale) has an actual real, permanent grass surface where as a lot of the other modern facilities don't. I actually think this is why Levi's Stadium keeps getting matches even though people seem to hate the crap out of it.

I haven't seen anything about what they're going to do in Canada.

No problems. I don't like DC as much as you do though, I've heard FedEx Field sucks and if it isn't a great NFL stadium, it certainly isn't suitable for the World Cup. I think they'll need a plan in place for some renos to that place if they're getting it. Speaking of shitty stadiums LOL @ Scott for the Cotton Bowl, holy crap. Can you imagine a sportocrat sitting in that shithole when it's 147 degrees in Dallas in June?

I thought Canadian Federation came out and said that they will have natural grass for 2026 but couldn't find the quotes after looking for 5 minutes. I will say this though, I'll make any bet anyone wants to make that they will have natural grass at all venues for the 2026 Men's World Cup.

i have absolutely zero issue that U.S. Soccer has a policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem. Makes sense that when you're representing your country you'll stand during the national anthem. The NBA has this same rule.
