that article does not support your assertion. it's main points are 1. this quarter's gdp does not reflect much impact from tariffs, you need to wait for future numbers to see an impact and 2. china appears to be (maybe) allowing their currency to fall to mitigate the impact of tariffs.

the first point directly refutes your statement that you are already seeing weakness in the chinese economy. the second point is ambiguous at best, but, can as easily be taken as chinese resolve to use monetary policy to withstand a long trade war as any other interpretation.

The article says China's economic activity is slowing (2nd sentence, 3rd paragraph), which is exactly what I stated. It also points to a number economic headwinds facing china before the effect of the tariffs can be quantified. All of these leads towards the logical conclusion that China's economy will continue to struggle, which gives the US leverage to negotiate freeer trade.

I can't explain you misreading of the article, and I will not engage in debate based upon false premises (eg, whatever you believe my points to be).
