Hope our next coach isn't given the Weber treatment
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:10:29 PM »
There's a certain portion of the K-State fan base that we're Weber haters from day one.
It was a small group. But they were vocal. You could hear them as they were frustrated
with Currie for letting Frank go. They were mad because they thought it was a weak hire
and decided from the beginning that they were gonna bash this new coach any chance
they could get. When he talked different.....they ridiculed him. When he paced the sidelines
with a little quirkiness...they ridiculed him. And more and more of those anti oscar or
anti Currie threads made WABASH an ugly place to visit at times. Those posters know
who they are. And the rest of us have had to deal with your negativity from the start.

On paper......oscar was given his chance for 5 years and ultimately didn't produce the results
needed. Most KSU fans that have supported Weber from the beginning, including myself, are
ready for the next coach.

I just hope the next hire won't be playing behind the 8 ball from the get go.

I'm going to guess the next hire won't be coming off a job in which he was fired.

Not a whole lot to ask for. I mean it was unprecedented where a fired power 5 conference coach was immediately hired at another power 5 school

Amen. I gave oscar the benefit of the doubt. He put the band back together with Lowry, et.al.

But oscar proved to be oscar.  After the Kentucky debacle I was ready for a change.

Now, let's see.

I don't think Currie has it in him to admit he was wrong.

Time will tell...

Please justify why one should be given 5 years when inheriting a generally successful program?

I thought tater statement reflects the thoughts of a lot of us.  It doesn't help.the teams.we use to count as sure wins have improved with new.coaches and no longer are bad teams.  I am sure the whole league looks at us as a sure win, that thought hurts.  I truly thought we turned a corner, but these last two games turn me towards the darkside.  I can still be turned back, but I am not.counting on a Luke Skyweber saving the day.  I hunger for meaningful basketball.

Pretty clear that there were only two posters who didn't get that and the two were absolutely no surprise.

I would add fired for sucking/burning down a program.

Fired for a scandal/dirty laundry/infractions, a la Huggs, would have been a different story.

Consider two small things.

1. Angel Rodriquez
2. Marcus Foster

If Angel had not decided to transfer, and Marcus had not decided he had made it, oscar Weber would now be one of the best coaches in K-State history. Curse Weber's coaching all you like. Tell me he can't win with his own players. Perhaps, you think he practices our guys too hard. You may despise his blow by handshake after losing. One thing you cannot deny, however, is that he was very close to having a great run at K-State. I won't even list the many injuries that have plagued Weber since he took over. We have a critical one (Dean) just this year when we were on the verge of making a lot of pundits eat some crow. DJamer's foot injury, a Weber recruit and one of the better post players we've had in years, which has plagued him ever since it occurred In his freshman year; Spradling's sternum injury that severely hampered him; Stoke's knee injury; Diarra's knee injury; Love's foot injury; William's foot injury; Dean's pneumonia.

Dare I mention the Kentucky fiasco that, most likely, kept Weber from getting some NCAA wins. Kentucky, probably the second best team in the country, that year, decided to play around the first half of the season and, because of this, was seeded 8th in the tournament. Who got the shaft on this one?

I apologize for the long rant, but I just had to say something.
