My God what a crap show, university officials threatening a current student over a little bit of bad publicity their followers couldn't care less about? I honestly think that threat is the worst thing I've seen out of this.

I don't know, I really enjoyed the half step away he is from calling her and the Star fake news.

Just needs to talk about how much of a loser the girl is and how her basketball ratings are very bad.  SAD!

They should be absolutely embarrassed by the fact there are multiple ongoing investigations going on, instead they flaunt it as an excuse to obfuscate and cast shade on the newspaper. So weird.

Can you imagine the outcry if failing McKenzie Calvert, declining minutes and all, had accused a K-State player of abusing her? The papers wouldn't cover that. FAKE NEWS.

Look, we can't discuss Title IX investigations.  That I will tell you.  We're not discussing it.  Okay?  And I understand what you're saying.  And I get that from so many people.  'Can you discuss Title IX?'  They are asking me the question, 'Can you discuss Title IX?'  And Title IX is important.  That I can tell you.  Okay?  It's important.  But we're not going to discuss it.

Need to add: "But we are dealing with some very bad people, ok? Very nasty. People that want to destroy this great university of ours. And only I can stop them."

Sorry, downstream little brother, that affidavit supports charging Jackson with a felony.  If they wanted to avoid the felony, they could have pled down to a misdemeanor in order to get something out of Jackson, like restitution and some type of anger management course.

The affidavit describes what happened as told to police by several witnesses, including two members of the KU women’s basketball team. Players Caelynn Manning-Allen and Eboni Watts were interviewed on Jan. 30, nearly two months after Calvert’s car was damaged and three days after The Star requested the police report from Lawrence police.

Police officer Scott Chamberlain talked to Calvert at the scene. Nearly four hours later, at 5:46 a.m., the officer interviewed Jackson in a third-floor study room at McCarthy Hall, the men’s basketball players’ dorm, with head coach Bill Self present.

What in the eff.  He wasn't even detained and then ran to self?

And want it ku Karl's contention she threw the drink at Jackson so this was all just "self-defense?"

They are so vastly superior than us at being big time at sports.  In the good old days we could get Chad May out of a DUI, but it has been a long time since we put athletics first in Manhattan.

I can't keep up with all of the criminal activities coming out of McCarthy Hall. Fortunately, the Star put together a nice video that summarizes everything.

Whatever, but providing shade for the rape of a minor is a bit of an overreach, don't you think?

Who raped a minor?  LHC Bill Snyder offered a scholarship to a guy he knew murdered someone, so I feel like we maybe shouldn't cast stones.

There's a hell of a difference between providing someone a second chance and aiding and abetting.

One is alleged, and the other was proven in both criminal and civil court.  Maybe they will prove Josh committed a felony someday, but who knows?

Also, what are the restrictions for the "second chance" rule to apply?  Perhaps Josh was getting his "second chance" at that time?

Personally, I believe he is guilty as hell, but I admire the hell out of KU's athletic machine.

Well Pete does have a point. Golly, we've fallen off a cliff when it comes to the MCMW factor.

Meanwhile the blotter is white hot (as usual) over at JCCC-L.

It kind of makes you a little verklempt thinking about Coach Seff rising in the predawn hours to assist and mentor the youngster as he got the old hot lamp treatment from the Fife's of Larrytown PD.

To be fair to LHC Bill Snyder he did pull the second chance out from under the kid once the media found out about it.

I know we live and die by "innocent until proven guilty," but this is some pretty awful circular reasoning. The biggest concern at this point is the apparent obstruction of justice going on in every step of these investigations.

To say "we will just see if they are proven guilty" completely ignores that. That means you would be ok with knowing Josh Jackson lied to police with Bill Self's guidance, and that other university representatives tried to bribe and threaten key witnesses to keep quiet, all as long as there were no criminal convictions at the end of the day.

I've never really viewed it as a coach's duty to keep players that might commit crimes from ever coming to campus. It is the cover up of the crimes that happen after they arrive that bothers me.
