I don't think this is actually anything of substance.

The conversations or the apparent lying during confirmation?

I think he had conversations with Russian diplomat(s) that were not related to the trump campaign.

Why lie under oath if you have nothing to hide?

Direct quote from Sessions hearing:
"I did not have communications with the Russians"

No context from him that he didn't have communications with the Russians about the campaign/election. He said straight up that he didn't have any contact, and yet, he did.

I think you are right. My opinion is if you are asked that question about contacting Russia with everything else going on, you explain how you were in contact with Russia and why ....Don't mislead with a simple "no"....Had to know something would come out if he did.

The Washington Post contacted all 26 members of the 2016 Senate Armed Services Committee to see whether any lawmakers besides Sessions met with Kislyak in 2016. Of the 20 lawmakers who responded, every senator, including Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.), said they did not meet with the Russian ambassador last year. The other lawmakers on the panel did not respond as of Wednesday evening.

“Members of the committee have not been beating a path to Kislyak’s door,” a senior Senate Armed Services Committee staffer said, citing tensions in relations with Moscow. Besides Sessions, the staffer added, “There haven’t been a ton of members who are looking to meet with Kislyak for their committee duties.”

It's a tad peculiar that he's the only member of the Armed Services Committee that met with a Russian ambassador, that had a closed door meeting with a Russian ambassador in his office, and let's not forget this "Russian ambassador" is also considered Russia's top spy and spy-recruiter.

His answer to Franken is fishy in itself. He doesn't answer the question he was asked and out of the blue issues a denial about his own involvement. WTF, dude?

So is this a pretty open and shut case of perjury?  I assumed he knew he was operating in a gray area by answering the way he did.  I'd love to see him gone I just don't think this has the legs to get it done.

The lib reactions to this....

Sessions was a senator. On the Armed Services Committee. He didn't meet with the Russian ambassador in a campaign capacity. He did not "lie under oath." Anyone with half a brain and without an ideological axe to grind knows Sessions was talking about meetings in a campaign capacity because that's the question he was answering.

This entire fake controversy is part of the steady drip drip drip of stories designed simply to pair "Trump" with "Russia." And you dumbasses are falling all over it. Congrats liberals - you have your birther movement. I wish you could see how deranged you've become.

You may be right. But simply being a Senator didn't stop him from talking about campaign related matters.
