man people love bombing 3s on us huh

Well yeah, I mean we hedge and over pursue on help D so aggressively that someone is damn near open beyond the arc on every possession.

It becomes frustrating to watch all the open shots sometimes.

it's weird too because our size should be able to cover the perimeter but nope

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

The lottery is bound to come up snake eyes at some point.

And man we are taking a bunch of them, which is a bit of surprise.

Jamie Dixon is showing what good coaching can do. He has taken a team that won 2 Big 12 games last year (8 total in Trent Johnson's 4 years) and is already having great success. His only 3 losses are to Top 25 kenpom teams. He shouldn't win Big 12 COY at this point (it should be all Self's if he wins another title or Drew/Huggs if they supplant him), but he should be 2nd or 3rd.

there's something wrong with the 3pta/fga column.

Also surprising that we have the highest FTR while also shooting the highest rate of threes.

That has to be the worst in the country, certainly in the top 8 conferences. There's no real way to know this but I'd be willing to bet that Manhattan High School would yield a similar three point defensive percentage playing the same schedule.

I don't think we should hold any team to that low of a standard.

I'd like to take a moment here to just sort of remind myself how completely ridiculous and amazing it is that Dixon left Pitt to go to TCU (his alma mater or whatever, i know).  The B12 coaching cadre is so incredible.

He left because the program at Pitt had grown stale and he had the chance to go to his alma mater, in a power conference, before he had what absolutely would have been a hot seat season if he stayed. The timing was perfect for Jamie.

No, not really.

ACC: 5 teams allow >41%, FSU the worst at 46.1%.
Big East: 2 allow 42%.
Big 10: 4 allow >40%, Michigan at 52.5%. !!!!
Pac 12: 4 allow >40%, Washington State at 45%.

Ours is bad, no question, but I do still believe that 3PT% defense is a bit of a lottery.

It's the only thing that is truly abysmal.  Our 2pt D and DReb% could be slightly better, sure.

The 2pt 3pt Ft shooting % are all solid for us. We also have almost +5.0% on TO rate.

Teams are shooting 18 3pt per game. If they were masking 33% like past 4 Weber years, it would be great. But 8-8.5 makes in 18 tries is 7- 8 more pts per game. That's huge. 44-90 3pt allowed last 5 games

52% is freaking insane.

Sure it's a bit of a lottery but I also think our inability to make perimeter players uncomfortable, ever plays a role. We don't guard players on the outside hard and don't have much length to bother shooters. I'm not saying I necessarily have an issue with our defensive philosophy, but eliminating drivers and cutters does have some consequence.

3% was last year's claim to defensive fame.  it's pure noise.

Instead of Manhattan High, what about air?

We are going to have some game where our opponent goes 2-22; I hope it is KU.

Defense must get better, but this offense is really fun to watch.

FWIW, oscar is on the verge of having the best shooting team EVER at K-State since the inclusion of the 3PT line in 1986-87. This year's eFG% of 55.9% ranks just ahead of 1987-88 at 55.6%. Currently 8th since 1948-49 in FG% (.490) and 5th overall in 3PT% (.383). oscar and his staff deserve a lot of credit for developing players and an offense that shoots the ball this well.
