have to see how the western states come out, but it looks like clinton will win the popular vote.  i still like the electoral college, though.  i have an irrational attachment to states, perhaps.

Actually, not ALL the votes have been counted yet.  Donald Trump is expected to win the popular vote.

Couldn't you also say they forbid women and blacks from voting for very specific reasons?

I am in favor of.keeping the electoral college.  I understand this was a way to protect our democracy crom takeover by a population gone beserk.  Electors are not required to vote or to vote a certain way (they may be penalized by state law if they do so).  If it comes out Trump is doing horrible things to whatever, the electors could vote for someone else.  I would favor a Nebraska system of choosing electors.
