honestly it's a rare positive sign in our political discourse that so few people are willing to pay to get scoop shoveled an extra helping of political discourse.
Most of their content announced wasn't political at all. In fact CNN has significantly more apolitical programming than any other cable news networks. They have pretty good documentaries.

Are you completely sure you know what you're laughing at? If CNN+ has half of the Fox Nation subscribers, I'm not sure how Fox Nation could be considered successful. They spend significantly more money on marketing and they're well established.
The bottom line is that CNN+ was Jeff Zucker's baby, he's gone, there's no one in the E suite willing to fight for it, and they want to just move past Zucker. Them pulling the plug has very little to do with actual subscriber numbers. They will lose a eff ton of money by pulling it early rather than just deal with the chuckles from people they shouldn't worry about. They're concerned about ever getting past the initial PR and that PR hit was something they should have expected and prepared for and they didn't.
