It's in play that for this season's opponents, there will be 100% correlation between going to a bowl game and winning vs. KSU, and vice versa.  I know Baylor's already bowl-eligible, but if they lost out on top of all the other stuff (rape, etc.), would they go to one?  Maybe it's mandatory somehow.

Death, taxes and the measuring stick.

There is speculation that Baylor will not accept a bowl bid, the conference should fine them if they do not.
They never even disciplined them for the actual rape thing.

Fortunately for the rest of the nation, Rapelor seems to have pushed their own self destruct button.

The actual rape thing didn't directly cost member institutions money.

What do you think the Big 12 should have done, realistically. If you're going to critique the conference, tell me what they should have done.

They could have demanded (although not entitled too) to see the full Pepper Hamilton Report for starters. And When Baylor told them to go pound sand they could have then started throwing out sanctions for not cooperating.

But what sanctions? What do they have the authority to do? Punish them is a nice sentiment but what does that actuality entail? Also bear in mind that Baylor fired the UP, AD, and the football coach, and all of the rapists are presumably gone. Who is left there to be punished?

Baylor released the results of the investigation on election day,  that's just how shady and crooked they still are...

Any team that lost to KSU this year has been eliminated from bowl consideration, both by measuring stick and by bowl eligibility rules.

TCU should be a lock for a bowl, so KSU may be up against it next Saturday.

Baylor is expected to lose their 6th straight tomorrow, and while bowl-eligible, between having lost to KSU and all the other stuff, may not have what it took to get that coveted bowl and practice time.

The schedule-makers, on their down time from rough ridin' oscar weber right in his ass, did a few favors for OBz.

In 2015, KSU only notched 6 wins, but 2 were against bowl teams (la tech and western virginia).

The correlation between success and points per play or drive is by far the strongest. Close to Connelly's 86% from all of college football. The others aren't as close to his percentages.

I'll put together a season comparison soon. They are pretty explosive, but much of their success came in the first half of the season. Since beating Tennessee in early October, they've been pretty bad.

I don't think that there is any doubt that we're a better team than last year, but looking at our schedule, we could very easily still end up with the same record.

If we don't end up with a better record, this isn't a better team.

Looks like I was wrong! We're a better team and we've got a much better record.

Several people mentioned this team being similar to 2011. They aren't wrong.

FWIW, I said this earlier this month when many/most were melting down. I still believe it.

I'm not hopeless like many people here though. I see this year and last as similar to 2009-11 when the staff was building a base for a run and I think that's what K-State football has to do. Much of our success is predicated by building an offense around a QB and I have hope for the future with the non-seniors we currently have on that side of the ball. Also, we have a base built for solid special teams/return games as well. That said, I do have questions on defense and whether we'll have enough there to support a good offense and special teams. We were far from great on defense in 11-12, but we had enough to support the offense and compete for a league title and be in the discussion for a national title. I'm not sure 17 or 18 will get quite to that level, but I can see pushing for 10 wins and finishing in the top 3 in the league if the current staff stays in place that long.

Hey Fan:  Do you happen to have the above-type of comparison for Snyder teams but on a points per possession perspective? (And, since I'm getting greedy, for conference games only??). I'm trying to figure out what our team will look like next year (especially after losing Lee), and I'm curious to see where this year's team matches up to teams from the past on a per-possession basis.  Thanks for the cool stats you provide; I really enjoy them.

I'm assuming you mean points per drive, and no I don't have those stats for past seasons. It's a stat that people like footballoutsiders and footballstudyhall have only started tracking the last few years. I only started tracking those Big 12 stats this year after I found the data. I wish I had Connelly's advanced stats going back for multiple years, but I don't. Footballoutsiders goes back with two different advanced football stats to 2008 or so, that's probably as good as there is out there.

So, you're going to have to manually go through all those box scores from 25 seasons? I'll give you some time to get that done.

(Kidding; thanks for the response.)
